Carrying your bocks
« on: September 07, 2007, 09:13:24 PM »
A lot of you have asked about a way of carrying PJ's this is my answer I'm not sure if it will work with the hoops (you would need another pair of straps ) but if you can invert the PJ's as shown without the hoops catching the frame it should work (depends on how the hoops are adjusted

Anyway the pics are fairly self explanitory

By the way I call it a Bocksack

And it all packs away and can hang on your belt

Ooh and you can keep a small tool kit in the folded belt bag

The cup is for size comparison

FORGET ALL THAT  :o
All you need is this  :o

But you'll have to work out how to change it to work with MOD'ed cuffs, but it shouldn't be hard.

You'll need one bungee (180cm long you may find you need a smaller one ? )
A water armband the ones with two squares on them. Cut the two squares out ( These are for padding ).

First stand both next to each other both pointing the same way.
Interlock the knee straps so they stand tight together.
Thread bungee through each hoop ( in one out the other ).
Blow just a little air into each pad and place between the footplate rods ( these will rest on your shoulder ).
Now the tricky bit :o
With the stilts facing you hold near the end of the footplate and left them up and over your head so the the hoops slide down your back and the spring are pointing outwards.
Now the real tricky bit
Rest a footplate on each shoulders and grab one end of your bungee cord and clip it in front of you on the opposite Stilt. There's a rod under ( now on top ) of the footplate it will hook but will on lock ( doesn't matter ).
Repeat for the other stilt.
And that's it !  :o

The hoofs is above your head and the springs stick out the back and not poking out at anyone. Hands free and if you carry a bum bag you and stow it and a tool kit ( Jason  ;D )
If you've seen Alien Vs Predators, you look it a Predators with two big guns  ;D

I'll do picture if you can follow that !?

There you have it DK's shoulder holder
  :)

You'll have to post a pic I think I understand but arn't the hoops sticking in you back uncomfortable ?

With mine you just throw it on your back like a rucksack and when you want to carry it in one hand just pick the whole lot up by one spring

The only problem I had on the tube was that it sticks up about 2" above my head and as I'm 6ft 4" it got caught on the roof in the tube train I think you will have a similar problem

Also one kid said it made me look like one of the ghostbusters  ;D I didn't ask which one  ;)

No most of the weight goes through the shoulder ( why you have a pad ).
True they stick up but it less than if you had them on and because you can see the hoof's you'll not walk into things.
And not everyone was born with a pair of stilt on, 6ft 4 .... I'm 5 8 and i can walk through doors OK with them on !  ;D

Warning:  this is such an obvious method, that I'm sure someone else has already thought of it, and it may even be elsewhere on the site, and if it is I'm sorry.

Having just been forced to carry my bocks back home (I'm nowhere near as fit as I wish I was), I've found a decentish stop-gap method for carrying Bocks and all of your protection.

You will need;
1 x Rucksack / Backpack
1 x PoweriSers/PoweriZers/Bocks/Whatever...

1. Place the Bocks on the ground next to each other, with the springs both facing the same way.

2. Turn one bock so that the foot from one is level with the hoop of another.  This ensures that the combined weight of the Bocks is evenly distributed.

3. Unthread the straps from the backpack, and then re-thread them behind the springs, making sure they're securely fastened back in the plastic buckles.

It may take some maneuvering to get the Bocks into a comfortable position (or even to get the back-pack on in the first place), but it is a simple and effective way to carry them, and it gives you a place to carry helmet + pad + drink + valuables etc.,

Again, I'm sorry if this is already widely-publicised.

Sorry Dark Knight, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that.

as far as I can tell, what Jason has done is to make something completely from scratch, wheras I'm just suggesting that you use an existing backpack and loop the straps through the springs.

I'll admit, Jasons method looks a lot better than mine, but requires a deal more effort to carry out.

Bigg Hungry Phill, I think this is a great method, similar to Jason's but different as Jason's design using calf cuffs & not the knee bars. Get some pictures up if you can :)

Nice Idea Phill

I did think of using a rucksack (Still got the one I bought for the project) and at Capital Bocking I carried a rucksack as well (for water and tools) the only problem is that you then have to carry the rucksack while bocking or leave it on the ground (and maybe get it nicked)

On the other hand it is good to have water tools etc with you

I designed mine to be used on short trips when you don't want any extra weight to slow your bocking so it would be handy to have both yours for away days and mine for short journeys localy

Method + Pictures:

1. Place the Bocks on the ground next to each other, with the springs both facing the same way.

2. Turn one bock so that the foot from one is level with the hoop of another.  This ensures that the combined weight of the Bocks is evenly distributed.

And the result;
