Ouch- painful tendons :(
« on: September 25, 2007, 08:45:38 AM »
After my first proper 2 hour bocking session on Sunday, now, 2 days later I can hardly walk.  Now I cycle alot and I thought my legs were quite fit - Hell was I wrong :(

The tendons behind and to the sides of my knees will hardly hold me up. Climbing stairs is nearly impossible, and I should have used the car for work today and not my bike  ::)

I hope they stop aching soon - it hurts!!!!!!!!!!

Did you do any stretches before and after?  I have recently found out the important of these and I am only 29.  It really does help to stretch, it prevents getting things like shin splints (they rudey well hurt).

Don't forget, you aren't as young as you used to be. :D

As with my cycling, I always do warm up stretches, and did this time before bocking :)

I hope it's just a case of using muscles which don't get used much cycling.  Probably because the lifting of the feet/PJs is the opposite of pressing down on pedals.

Funny you should mention my age, my wife told me the same thing 'you're not as young as you used to be'  :(

Warm up and cool downs !?
I've was an aerobic teacher for many years.
When I started teaching fitness classes we where told

10 minuets warm up
45 minuets work
15 minuets cool down

BUT later we worked out at as long as you atart slow and work up to speed then bring It down again it alright.
Mussels but need warming up !?

When my legs start working properly again, I'll try something like that regime :)

I think you misunderstood !?
You don't need a warm up a cool down !
Mussels ache when their worked too hard.

You may bike a lot but the mussels are used in different ways.
Someone who run 100 meters maybe rubbish on a bike !
A body builder would be rubbish doing 110m hurdles. !

The more you Bock the better you'll feel !?

Go for it gillybert

Us oldies were bought up when men were men and the women were to  ;D

I go out on my PJ's with good intentions of all the slow warm up and the stretching
Then my brain goes out to lunch and I throw myself around like I'm 16 again until I'm so knackered I can't stand let alone stretch or wind down  ;D

Later at night my legs cramp and the next morning I can hardly stand

I then stagger about for a couple of days complaining until I feel well enough to do it all again

At 47 I'm enthusiatic but almost terminally stupid  ;D

So go for it gillybert go for it  ;D

I know what you mean DK, I basically worked to hard for to long using muscles which got a bit of a rude awakening ::)

And Jason, your dead right  :).

With all the best intentions, when I put my PJ's on, the kid comes out, and I just go hell for leather :-[  -  until I fall over knackered.  ITS GREAT ;D

Its early days yet for me and bocking, but I'm sure it will gradually hurt slightly less ???

Cheers gb  :)

Right, legs not hurting today, so I'm going out on my PJ's around the village ;D

The tendons behind my knees seem OK now, but I will be take it steady and no footy ;)
