Pad Colouring?
« on: November 22, 2007, 11:42:36 PM »
I just taped up my bocks (6 layers and yellow hilights :) )
But looking at it, I think they clash with the Orange padding.
How would anyone go about making them black/yellow/fitting with anyones grand scheme of things?
Ideas welcome!

Edit: Yeah, no idea if colouring is spelt right :P
Here's a little piccy:

The foot straps are stitched in so could be unpicked and a sewn a new foam pad cut to the shape of the one you take off ( you could just about get away with leaving it with nothing ).
The calf pads put on with studs so you'd have to drill them off and cut a square of foam and glue or use double sided foam tape.

Thanks for the comments all,
I was thinking 'bout taking off the pads and painting them with <Name of spray paint that does foam>
But they do look pretty solidly attatched, I'm not too hot on the sewing machine, so that may affect my direction inn the matter ;)

you can buy paint pens dude...
although they are £3 a throw lol...
then you can do what ever colour you want...
i used them for the logo's on my straps...
it would need a few coats mind...
or failing the hasstle of removing them... a good permanent marker pen would do it... that would need a second covering also...
just take your time getting it neat... rounded nib on pen etc...
good luck....

I covered mine with some sticky back plastic stuff, it worked well and I cut it so it went behind too.

It's true that their not that notcieable, especially the back/calf pad, but it still sticks out abit, one of those things that catches your eye?
Especially when you have no orange at all in your colour scheme :P

Baggy pants? I'd probably get them cought up in something and stack it :D

You can put pvc/vinyl (electrical) tape on the orange part of the foot bindings.  Just cut a piece slightly larger than the exposed orange foam, stick it on and tuck the ends under the black rubber part.  It sticks surprisingly well and will perfectly match your springs  ;)

You can use the same idea for the calf-pad, but you may want to use the larger size of tape so there are fewer seams.  If the ends of the tape are tucked underneath the backing, it should hold up well, and it doesn't look bad either  8)

Take the calf pad completely off.  You don't need it.
