Rusty Pro-Jumps?
« on: November 27, 2007, 10:36:24 PM »
Hey all,
Just a quick question thats been going through my mind,
When I recived my stilts the bolt heads on the bottom of the feet (going into the rubber bit) are patrially rusted (one being all brown and stuff)
Will this compromise the stilts? I don't want the bolt shearing mid jump!

Thanks for your help ;)

Got 'em off Pro Jump,
When I got them I asked the guy on the phone, and he put it down to moisture in transit,
But I just needed to check if i should get them changed ;)

get some 600, 900, and 1200 wet and dry grit paper, and sand the rust off, should only be light!!! No dangers with the nuts or bolts breaking!!

I'd give em a bit of a clean with a softish wirebrush and put some WD 40 or oil (small amount don't get it on the rubber makes it slippy  ;D)

If your worried undo the bolts and check the thread but I get a lot on machine bits delivered that come from China and you do sometimes get a bit of surface rust on them but if it cleans off easily you shouldn't have anything to worry about

If you really want to you should be able to get some bolts to match from a local car accessorie shop the foot itself is made of aluminium so it shouldn't affect that

Opps you beat me to it Sx Nutta I type to slow  ;D

Jevans, don't worry if anything it will be just on the surface (they do take about 3-4 weeks to arrive from China and then are stored in the warehouse)

I've never heard of someone's bolts shearing off their Pro-Jumps as yet so hopefully it won't happen to you  ;)
