« on: January 20, 2008, 08:26:05 AM »
Hey guys, Im looking at doing my local sport releif mile (in Norwich) on my bocks (if I can get the time out of work), I have contacted the organisers and I'm waiting for a reply as to wether I can take part.

I was wondering If any other people would like to join me?? (hint hint EA Bockers!!) Its Sunday the 16th of March.

Sports relief miles have been taking pace in most major Cities for the last 2 years

Also one planned for Lincoln on the same date as they all take place on the same day.

Generally anyone can go and do the mile. At Lincoln some specialist runs were planned at different times of the day both to add variety and also for health and safety reasons. Sports clubs were also encouraged to participate and promote thier clubs during the day.

Getting a number of bockers together to do a specialist run would help the sport as the TV cameras and press tend to attend these events if given a good story.

They do a mile in Cambridge to im sure of it, and i know other places will do it, so if cant all make it to one place could agree on another spot as well for a few others and if the news is ther could be good to see bockers in a few different locations and we can say about us being in other places aswell could link the news and get us all shown on tv if wer filmed

I'm sorry but I think you'll find they'll not let you do it on bocks !

I was thinking the same thing I but after reading all the details it's unlikely ( On grounds of health and safety ). It because of something to do with " small children are taking part at the same time )
I lost the link but I'd check with them before you make too many plans !

Here their quote

Can I skate/cycle/rollerblade the Mile?

Unfortunately we can’t allow this. We have to consider the safety of all our other Milers - some of whom are small children.

Depends on how they manage the process.

Under health and safety particularly child protection I could argue that allowing any children under 14 to run with adults is negligent as adults falling on children is a risk.

Some events will segregate out and allow participation of groups at a time. suggest you see how many would attend then ask the event organisers to give you a time slot.

If they refuse they are either  :censored: organisers or negative people. Also could ask a leading question about thier support for those with disabilities. if they allow other forms of mechanical devices on site they should allow Bocks

Why exactly? Bocks are not used to aid disabled people, they are merely a toy.

Well I hate tell you this but they can be used as an aid for disabled people ! Me  :o
17 years ago a car me ankle was smashed so badly I nearlly lost the foot. I have arthritis ( a some damage to the nerves, tendons and muscles ) in that join and find it hard to walk without a limp but I could bock all day and you'd know. When I take them off and start limping people think I've fallen down !?
I did have a plate but it was removed I posted a picture in the gallery of it !?

Then that is great, At least you will be able to go lol.  :kidding: But now really thier argument is weaker but what they say goes unfortunatly and I am certian to somebody that does not really know projumps will be classed as cycles/skates ect. In that catagory.

Hex have you set up a SPort Relief "sponsor" page - and if so are you going to add yourself to my "team" - if we're all bouncing together?

And is anyone wearing anything daft or themed??  I may get out the cyberlox and go Cyber-Chick
