i used a roll on each spring to make sure they are well protected

I just wrapped three layers of electrical tape around the springs today, the look decent enough but better than leaving the springs exposed, i also put it around the supporting rods because the bindings/straps rub against it and wear away. Thanks for the advice!

wouldn't it make a stronger spring if anything? because its like wrapping a piece of strong tape very tight around the arm an straining it

i would not recomend covering your springs to much if you do extrem stuf, you should always be able to check the condition of your spring, think safe and have fun.

I'm guess that the original ProJumps didn't have a rubber coating encasing the springs?  Mine have a 2mm rubber coating on them from top to bottom.

Drew, you'll find 2mm is very thin once you start knocking them around. People tape over the rubber because it looks very tatty with a lot of scr***es and knicks on it.

Now you mention it they do look slightly tatty, and after only 2 falls ;)  I guess the fact that they can't lean against anything when not in use without failing over doesn't help.

They can, I lean mine up against a wall in my dining room when they are not in use and they have never fallen over.....

Duct tape is fine, I put a layer of it on my springs.

Now i have:
Spring
Normal Rubber coating
Bike Inner Tube
Green Electrical Tape
Duct Tape
Blue Electrical Tape
