Takes time and patience, along with jumping through your heels

I hate to say this but I have found the fitter I get the higher I go

A week off with any form of injury or cold knocks a good foot off my jumps and takes a couple of weeks to regain

After you get your technique right it then becomes a case of returns for what you put in

I think it boils down to "if you can jump a foot up on your own feet you have evough power to double it on bocks"

I have seen so many people who started bocking after me advance far faster and then when I ask them how they normaly have in the past done something like trampoline, free running  or some form of gymnastics

So get fit and spend every available moment on bocks (I manage 1 hour a day week time and at least 4 to 5 on the weekend)

The height will come (and scary it is when it does  :haha:)

But it is a bit different to being on your feet. On bocks you are putting all of your enery down and then as much up after that. With jumping on your feet you are purely thorwing yourself up.

Yes It is very different on bocks Spud but if you are capable of jumping 3 ft on your own feet then your leg muscles will be strong enough to put more power into the bocks on the way down and push yourself higher on the way up and your ballance will be better due to more control

Most of the people that get real height are very fit you just have to look at them then take a look at me I am about 3 stone over weight, old and unfit

I can bottom my springs out fairly often but still the highest i can get is 4ft if I lose the weight simple physics takes over and I will go higher but only if my legs are strong enough to compress the bocks

This is why when you start you have trouble compressing a set 10kg above your weight then you see some people that are bottoming out on stilts that are 30kg above their weight (and getting 6ft in the air)

Sx don't mention the yellow bollard  it's embarrassing  :nana:

You gotta point there..but I dont think you need to be strong to jump on your feet..more skilled. I think thats why parkour have an advantage. As with trampolining. I dont think it is all the strength..possibly the fitness but mainly the skill.

Yes skill has a lot to do with it and ballance

As for trampoline I bought one 2 weeks ago and I can do about 10 mins of bouncing on it and am totaly whacked I really didn't realize how unfit I was

The other thing that we haven't mentioned is lack of fear (stupidity the wife calls it ) I know I can go higher but the fear of loosing it at that height is just enough to stop me pushing

A bit like tricking at first I thought "I need more height to do tricks" but then I watched people doing tricks and only jumping 2 ft to do them it's all down to practice and confidence
