CB: Happy Campers
« on: July 23, 2008, 01:24:40 AM »
This is the field we are basically taking over for camping.
It's not a campsite, its a rugby ground with plenty of room. They are opening the club house for us to use the showers and toilets and probably the bar too if we want it.
This costs £20 per tent per night. Doesnt matter if its a 2 man or an 8 man, its still £20 per night so the more people in your tent, the cheaper it works out per person.

This campsite is ONLY available for the friday and saturday night. If you are staying other nights you MUST book them at the proper campsite (Cardiff Caravan Park).

There is no need to book at the new camping site but I do need to give them pretty accurate figures so the camping list on the CB website is still very relevant.

The later you can get there the better, otherwise the lady at the rugby club has to pay someone to work there all day. At the moment Ive set the earliest arrival time at 4pm.

If you do arrive earlier than 4pm on the friday you can always come straight to the bay for a bocking session for a few hours before going to pitch your tent etc. Shouldn't be a problem.

There are going to be sign posts up directing people to the bay, I'm not too sure about the campsite yet.

Nice! I have a 8 man tent too. So we are taking over a field, sounds good to me then we can make more noise or we dont have to be as quite because we wont have neighbours to disturb that arent staying with us at Camp Bock. Plus we can streak too, hooray! jelly x

There is a carpark on the opposite side of the field to where we shot the video, and behind us is a school which also has parking, which we are looking into the possibility of getting it opened for people to park in. I doubt we will be allowed to drive on the pitch as it is a private rugby club ground and also has a cricket green.

I have a tent with 3 bedrooms areas and a huge general living area. 2 bedrooms are 3 man and 1 is 2 man. If somebody wants a bedroom in that then they can. I will see what Dan wants to do. I am just worried that it's bad to put up ???

I am camping atm lol :D

Also I've gotta get a bus there from the station, does anyone know what the nearest stop is called? (I know there is one pretty near it but have no idea what its name is :) )
You want to walk from central station to Castle Street, and get the 112 bus which goes from Cardiff to Tonypandy, and then get off a western avenue in Llandaff. It's a 10min walk from Central to Castle Street, 7mins on the bus, and then a 5min walk from Western Avenue to the rugby club.

I'll throw a map together on google soon but at the moment it's being gay and sh**ty and I give up. after throwing my PC out the window and kicking it around a bit, here's the result

Map from Cardiff Central to Llandaff Rugby Club
This forum is lame and won't let me embed it :(
