Help for the Noobie? :D
« on: December 27, 2008, 02:08:04 PM »
Okay, had my bocks for 3 days now I guess, I'm walking around outside but I'm not a confident person, I'm too much of a wimp to go somewhere without a wall to grab onto just incase!!
Any tips for being more stable/confidence building? I don't have anyone around to lean on unfortunately :(

Get in touch with the Invicta Bockers, they are in Kent too, they also have a gym meet coming up very soon and that would probably be the best way to get your confidence fast!

If you have the protective equipment (knee pads, Wrist guards min suggets also elbow pads) then falling will generally not hurt. The first thing is to understand that you will fall at some point, if you do go with it.Once your past that then you can leave the wall

If you can get a pal or parent get them to stand with you so you can hold them for support. Try not to look down and focus approx 10m in front of you. Walk properly and pick your feet up. To slow down lean back slightly. When you come to a stop continue to ballance by moving slightly from one foot to the other. Once you can do this your pal/parent can let you go.

I have got loads of people walking unaided, this should only take 10/15 min
Grow old disgracefully

Ive had mine for 3 days now and yes im in the same boat not the most confident ever but to start its better to walk next to a wall or something then maybe set your self a target like a lampost and just look at it and dont look at the floor =]  :PJ1:

Thanks for the help guys :) Really good. I have them on right now just sitting down, the weather is very windy and freeing outside, I'm not sure if I'll brave it! I might practice walking in the tiled utility room, it's long and thin without any hazards to fall/walk into!
I have a three piece pad set and a helmet thankfully :D

Ok :) hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer (pfft!) tomorrow!
I just went down to B&Q and got a nice long thick stick with ridges for grip that I can use for a bit of balance when I hopefully pluck up the courage to go outside and walk on the dry grass tomorrow :)

I can only just walk let alone do backflips xD
Come to think of it they'd probably just stuff the talking thing and push me over. Yeah. Nice town :P

Hehe me too. I'd probably end up crawling some place to a wall, and even then failing to get up xD

Thanks so much for all the advice everyone has been really helpful had a mate over today and got walking without holding anything :) Feeling really happy and confident now since I'd been worried I'd never get walking without something to grab on to :)
Thanks again!
Now, onto running and jumping :o
