Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you are Audiophiles(like me!).
If you are one describe your gear, taste in music, favorite songs, basically anything!

My Gear
Logitech something speakers for my computer(there pretty good)

Mp3 Players:
Guru 1GB
Bought for £65...in 2004/05 or something.
Screen doesn't work anymore but still plays music, and the battery is almost dead.

Sumvision Gio 2GB

Buttons don't know what they are, sometimes the play/pause button is the on/off button.
I did buy it for £20 though...

Ordered this yesterday(along with the Creative headphones):
Sandisk Sansa Clip 8GB(hell yeah)

Bought it for £45!
Suppose t be amazing, and it is a true ipod shuffle killer!

Headphones = Whatever my current ones are, cheapish Sony ones I think. They work, they play music, they withstand bocking, so they're fine for my needs.

I couldnt live without my ipod touch+bose ear pods! The touch is just an awesome piece of kit and the music quality is way better than on the other ipods. Yes, there maybe better things than ipods but they are nice. Same story with the bose ear pods...sure you can get better for the money but I can have them in all day and hardly notice them..

Music is like...so important to me..if I forget my ipod and stuff I get sooooo annoyed.

I wouldnt know where to start with good music. I like so much. But say..fave album of the week would be from the fleet foxes. Thats good stuff!

couple of good bands you might not of heard of: Morning runner+ unkle bob. Both great!

le ancient harman/kardon pc speakers, apart form the built in subwoofers starting to die they're pretty awesome, got a jack to hook up an external anyways, this laptop has almost identical speakers built into it, also insane(for a laptop that is, but it's got a desktop processor XD)

choons: mainly free stuff, other random crap i've got lying on my external drive, and pretty muhc every single DDR song and loads of fan made crap lying in my stepmania folder aswell

mp3 player: 4 year old 1GB stick, volume and back buttons are broken, but it still works better than an ipod shuffle ever will

I'll start with the fact that i have a 12" Sub On my Desk, that are accompanied by a set of Ruark Crusaders, when no-one is home.. The house shakes

I Love music myself and listen to it non-stop, listen to a wide range from Pink Floyd to Daft Punk back to Rick Wakeman and then onto all the Techno, Trance and Dance that i also like too..

Used to have a Creative Zen until i sold it due to neglect. Now i just use my phone with an 8GB Card in it.. or my laptop with portable speakers when im on my stilts.

Also if youve heard of them Deep Forest is another Favorite of mine.

I have a touch

My comp speakers are actually my hi-fi speakers. It went in the loft for a few years because the CD bit broke but now I have an ipod Aux input FTW!

Now you see, i've got a recent generation iPod classic, 80gb. And there's never been anything wrong with it. The interface is smooth and clean, it's got great audio quality and (despite rather rough handling... it lives in my pocket/on the floor when it's just fallen out) it's never broken.

I use mega old (but not too bad at all) Tiny PC speakers on my desktop, and have a 560watt Sony hi-fi in my room. I've never had it louder than 15 out of 30. I think the house might actually start to break beyond that.

I also have an 800watt total power surround sound system connected to my TV.

If you've never heard of them, The Knife are an amazing band if you're into electronic music

I also use skullcandy "smokin' buds" headphones, which are nice, they give good sound quality, dont cost too much, and are really comfy...

Measuring speakers in wattage  is fairly useless to my understanding, but i cant exactly remember what is useful!
also for audiophiles skullcandy are just sinful theyre shiny with average internals.
I had a set of sennheiser CX300 second gen, which were pretty good until i stood on them.

Also have a rockbox'd ipod.

So what if skullcandy are a sin and wattage doesnt mean anything? the higher the wattage, the better the quality, usually, and the skull-candy's look nice and are comfortable, where's the problem?

wattage is a measure of absolute power coming from an electronics background, which logically translates to more volume, but quality would be determined by the frequency response and any resonance the speakers etc have, along with what quality sound you put through them aswell



headphone-wise, skullcandy are pretty, but break too easily and are way too expensive.average, and i say teh same for senheisers aswell, my el-cheapo gaming headset (about 7 squids) has nicer sound than any senheisers i've ever tried, and the professional headphones we used in college for music tech, but i probably have weird ears or something, or the input they're getting is much better quality etc
