Step aerobic was designed with rehabilitating people who suffered with knee problems.
If you don't fancy going to a step class try climbing stairs. Increasing the effort by carrying weights.
Bocking and trampolines will in them self strengthen your knee too !?

Try what cured my knee problems Aidanh

I cycled to work and back for a few years and as it was 15 miles each way it built up the muscles round my knees

And no impact at all

I think the muscles "around the knee" would include the calf and thigh, the are no muscles "around" the knee !?
Low impact workouts like you say cycling will build up the strength in your legs but swimming is also a very good all round body toning.

Completely agree with you Jason, cycling and also doing small weights in the morning and evening exercises helped me recover from torn ligaments in my knees, and the resulting weaknesses from limping around for 3 months. The muscles around the knee are really important as they can then cushion and support the actual joint, from both twisting and impacts.
