Possible to get non moving metal footplates?
« on: November 02, 2009, 01:23:55 PM »
As the title says is it possible to get non moving metal foot plates and if so where can you get them from?

I currently have a set of Powerizers and I'm contemplating a set of sevens when I have the cash for them in January. My powerizers will mainly be used by friends and I was looking to make the sevens pretty much all metal and get them power coated black for a nice original finish but I'm struggling to find metal foot plates :(

Ooo a question i can answer :P

You cannot get one one no unless you either screw your foot to the stilts (Powerskips)
Or weld down the Moving footplate, another idea is to get a skeet of metal, and flace it over the plastic footplate and scre glue and bolt it down :P

Normal powerskips pretty much have a plain metal footplate under their "Pixie Boots".

I suppose it would be possible to mod normal ones into plain metal by removing the plastic footplate and then using webbing bindings like on some of the FlyingLocust stilts that were released. Not sure how good the stability would be, but it'd certainly be do-able.

Yep I did Spud

All I did was get some ally checkerplate (heavy duty stuff) and cut it to shape
I only made the front half as that was all that was needed to mount the straps on but a whole plate would work

I have also since drilled large holes in the center to lighten it

Have a look here

I kept the shape simple as it was the look I wanted but you could cut it to the same shape as the original plate
