Advanced bindings
« on: November 30, 2009, 01:31:13 PM »
Hi Naz,

I was wondering if your advanced bindings are the same as those being offered by FlyJumper.com, and if so, are the buckles made of plastic?
Clicking on the more details link gives nothing so I could not see a close-up of the buckles.

Here's my dilemma...
As you know, I'm a Powerstrider retailer. We recently received a new catalogue showing what they claim to be a professional binding with metal buckles.
The design of these buckles is the same as those on the FlyJumper site so they are obviously those.
The FlyJumper site gives no information on the product itself however, it would appear they are the same as the bindings used on the new CZ range.
According to some American members of the PP forum who have purchased or are testing the CZ's, the buckles are still the same plastic version but with a lacquer that gives the appearance of being metal.
I did ask the French importer this question but he says he cannot answer because he has not yet seen them.

I'm sure you can appreciate I don't want to list them as being metal if that is not the case.

PMs work in just the same way on PP as they do on here :D

So, if I understand you correctly, what they are manufactured from should not be made public?

Hi Adrian

It would depend what the PowerStrider guys have as we have had two versions

1. We brought these last year and they were only available as spares
- there had metal buckles
- the left & right side buckle is the same shape so its easier to order spares
- but the way it fixed to the footplate was not great

2. The new ones are available on the Pro-Jump + models
- these are plastic (but in pictures they look metal as they are silver)
- the left & right buckle is different shape
- but the way they fix to the footplate is a lot lot better and more suited

hope this helps

No, you just made an incorrect assumption. I didn't mention anything about that. Your post was directly aimed at Naz and that's the only reason I said what I did :Cwink:

Don't know if this will help PBC but I have got both sorts (Metal buckles and Chromed plastic buckles)

I find the metal ones awkward to undo (they often stick and you have to lift the lever and the release catch to free them) also although I havn't broken one of them yet the release lever feels weak
The Plastic ones are very similar to the old style plastic ones and work very well

Needless to say I prefer the plastic ones

Thanks Jason. Actually, since posting this question, I have heard back again from Powerstrider and it has been confirmed they are indeed plastic with a metal finish lacquer.

@ Spud:
You were right. I just didn't think of the PM option. I should have done. Sorry 'bout that.
