Welcome Dan, a video would be most useful here. It's usually quite alright for a stilt to make some noise but obviously we cant just say it is 100% safe because we dont know what sort of noise it is or where it is coming from.
Height will depend on your confidence and experience. Obviously confidence increases with experience too but it helps to have a bit of a daredevil outlook, especially for people who are not 14 years old
