Quick release
« on: April 23, 2012, 09:48:46 PM »
Hi,

I was fooling arround with my stilts, constantly reajusting the bars of my cuffs on my Exo (especially my left leg seems rather picky to how the bars are set) and was getting increasingly annoyed at having to loosen / retighten four bolts every time (and noticing I have to replace at least one bolt: the thread is damaged too much :( ) when an idead hit me: why not replace the bolt with quick release clamps?
After a search on the internet, I found some likely clamps... But I'd need eight of them, and then the costs add up quickly.

So my problem is: I choose the stylish black and cheaper Exo over the Exo pro  :Ctwitcy:

There, allas, is no solution to THAT problem.

I do have a question: would the mounting block of the Exo Pro fit on a regular Exo? I've got a feeling that might be my cheapest option - including shipping - if it is possible.

Regards from the NL,

The Bouncing Dutchman,
Ralph

Hmm I dont seem to have any black exo's laying around to check but my gut feeling is no.
I think the frames are just too different, I dont think anything is inter-changeable on them :(

I will double check though if nobody else replies.

Aye, that was my first thought, too.

But in the Introductions thread, reply Reply #1434  UserGu1de leeds me to doubt. He has the Exo, too, but wants calf cuffs...

Ah well, there's always the option of mailing PJ directly.

Cheers, mate!

Hmm... I've gotten a close view of my Exo's mounting block in the time that I had it, and the more I look at pictures of the Exo Pro, the more I imagine the way the mounting block is attached to the frame might not be that different at all

Attached is a view of the way Exo does it.

Cheers!

Those images make me very hopeful, indeed!

OK, next step: contact PJ.

Thanks Locky!

The upright on the Exo's and the Exo Pro's are identicle (at least they were on the pairs I have) apart from a coat of black paint

They should fit with maybe a hole or two drilled (might not even need that)

Problem might be whether or not they carry that part as a spare (unlikely to get damaged )

Hi Jason,

I think I see what you mean... Like the holes in the front of the upright: they serve no purpose on my Exo's and I thought they might be a relic from the past designs - why design and produce new parts when you can make do with what's already there.
But I see now how that could house the hinges of the Pro mount block.
I'm not sure about the back hole in the middle where the quick relase clamp would go through, and I'm not eager to open my baies up to find out: on multiple bolts show wear on the thread and I have yet to find a half-decent hardware store that has the kind of bolt I need to replace them with... Might have to get those online too :(
And I was thinking galvanized steel,... might keep up a bit better, or is the wearing down of the screw thread maybe a classic sign of over-tightening?

Cheers!

Lol! I had already posted a picture of the beast's innards!  :Claugh:

Nope no hole in the middle on the backside.

I so hope Naz will respond to my email with some good news    :Cwideeyed:
