Safety questions
« on: October 08, 2006, 01:01:52 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm new on this forum and really would like to buy a pair of power skips,
but i worry about moving parts on this device.

basically I've got 2 question, which stopped me from buying:

1) is there any chances to trap finger between moving parts ?
and
2) if powersping (or any other parts) fall appart during jumps, is there any chances penetrate  leg one  person landed on the ground ? this is main main question actually, because I think it will be very very bad bleeding injury.

Anu  suggestions/experience/comments are welcome

I appreciate for your answers.

Thanks,
Kosta

P.S. sorry for my English, but i think you could understand  =)

I think if you use pro-jumps responsably and treat them with care then you have no worries of getting your fingers caught and also keep little kids away from them they could maybe get hurt.

Arthur,

thanks for answer, but it is not help me. :-\

I know that in theory everything  should be ok, and nothing happends. But during my life I've seen too many failures from equipment (sport equipment and other  stuff), so I  always want to check all hiden and pottential problems with equipment.  I dont' want to get injures.

any others sugessions/comments ???

My response)

1) You should not touch any moving parts when jumping, especially when landing. There is no need to touch any moving parts whilst moving.

2) If the spring were to burst outwards it would go behind and away from you. Furthermore, you would be on the ground in seconds as you cannot boucne with a broken spring. You should only jump with lots of space around you. As with any extreme sport you must wear protection.

I hope these have been helpful.

P.S.   COuld you see that  curve metal thing on the right hand side of the  picture? is that spring i thing.... is there any chances to broke it and penetrate leg?

Cheers

also as i do not have a pair at the moment im not sure what material the spring is but the chances of it snapping are very low these Pro-jumps are very high quality

I'm scare if that  spring fall appart and once  i'll be on the ground part of the spring can go through back of my knee ......  thats scared me a lot.

Are you current use that things? could you make a photo where power spring connected.

i dont have any at the moment.
But at it says in your quote i"f it does break it will go outwards. "
so i think it is Extremely unlikely to go into your leg.
Well thats my personal opinion.
you can always ask more people aswell to get more opinions

Arthur
I understood that  things are good quality (they got ISO 9001 certification bla bla bla ) but it doesn't mean that  power jumps or whatewer   it called couldn't fall appart. And I would like to know (as I said before) what kind of problem could happend.

P.S.

I've got only 2 legs and no spares, so if something happends I'll be very dissapointed, so thats why I asked so many questions and not satisfied  with answer like  "don't worry, it's good quality stuff". Nothing personal.

P.P.S  I've seen a guy, who use his snowboard in the reil, so  last time he jumped and landed on the rail, snowboard  parted and one big wooden  part  went into his leg... scared thing....

I was always think, that this is impossible to do...

As with any exteme sport there are always risks involved. we all do the best we can to eliminate them by protection.   As for equipment faliure it's never that easy to tell.

Ive had mine for a few months. Ive not had any problem with them. i check all nuts and bolt are secure before i get on them.

I am unsure of the material used for the spring it's niether metal nor plastic. if it were to snap the chances of it going into your leg is probaly very slim. One could speculate about what could or coundn't happen all day. but untill something like that happens the answer is unclear.

Pro Jumps are very well constucted. There are a lot of people who own them.

They must be safe to sell on the market or else they would never had made it to the shops.

Hope this helps you a little to make your mind up.

Terry
