Sock or Boot

Which sounds right for the covering that go on the hoofs ?
When/before your rubber hoof wears down you cam make bike tyre covers or buy special cover like " Hoofies ".
Do you call it a sock or a boot ?

For me A SOCLK is :-
A sock is a knitted or woven type of hosiery garment for enclosing the human foot. Socks are designed to:
ease chafing between the foot and footwear,
keep the feet warm
absorb moisture
provide comfort
absorb perspiration
helps prevent athlete's foot [1]
and are a valued fashion item

And A BOOT is :-
A boot is a type of shoe that covers at least the foot and the ankle and sometimes extends up to the knee
and shoe being
A shoe is a piece of outerwear worn on one's foot.

A footballer and rugby player doesn't wear shoe's they call them boots !?

So what do you think they should be called sock/boot ?

I'd say boots or shoes. Lol, or sandals if you have the tie up ones on the PJ's. Lol.

The original inventor Bill C called it "tyresocks" and I think despite what they look like we should continue to call them tyre socks to avoid confusion! You can call yours DK's Boots thou  ;)

I did a write up yesterday on TYRE SOCKS it gives a good history of them and why they came about
Check it out http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1261.0

The man who invented them gets to name them so I would stick with Tyresocks unless a radical change in design is used so Pin can call his  tie up socks and I can call mine Hoofies as both bear little resemblance to the original apart from covering the hoofs

But for bike tyres held on by jubilee clips or tiewraps and tape it's "Tyresocks" in defferance to the great Bill C

I think your missing the point DK

The "Tyre Sock" was thought up by someone so it's only right they deserve the credit and call it what they want.

Its like a lot of things that make me wonder why they were called such a thing...

Let's see why was marmite called marmite? or why did Alexander Bock call his bocks Powerskips or why did we decide to call our brand Pro-Jump  ;) Or even Why did Pinhead call his PinHead's tie up sock or why Jason called his hoofies!

the list can go on!

I have been reliably informed (if you believe that  ;D) that somewhere in a far flung foreign country there is a mountain called in the local dialect "Yourfingeryoufool" as when the first explorer asked whats that and pointed (well you can guess the rest)

And who can forget the tribe of midgets that live in the long pampass grass called "The F*ckarewe tribe" for of course constantly yelling "were the f*ckarewe" constantly

Without these type of names the world would be a boring place

Ps I kept the name Hoofies because it was like Marmite you either love it or hate it  ;D

Lol.

I can see why the original tyre sock is called a tyre sock, as opposed to pinheads tie up ones which are more shoe like.

Either way different people will refer to them with different names.
