Before POWER BOCKS
« on: February 29, 2008, 04:48:29 PM »
I have said this before and Carma sort of thinks I'm right but Power Bock are not as new as you'd think ?

I remember something like a Power Bock on a program call " Think Again " back in the 70's
Has yet I can't track anything to back this up but I'm looking !?
I remeber even drawing them in one of my school books ?

There is a number of designs that do much the same thing !?
I've tracked a couple down  :o

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUyFiBMqdoY

http://www.springwalker.com/

http://bleex.me.berkeley.edu/bleex.htm

The second one's remind me of ones from the 70's !?
I'm not saying Bock didn't workout his own design just that there where/are other types about !?

theres also the amputee version thats remarkably similar in theory

“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride!”

I've had the idea of like FUSION for years !?
Fusion-DNA Evolution may use things I learned on Fusion but somewhere on a old school book it's there  :o

Now this is trawling the depths of my memory but

I think it was before I was married and that was 1989 and it might have been a while before that

I saw a guy on Tomorrows world I think he was German and he was standing on a pair of curved springs very similar to Bocks and saying he had designed them after looking at kangeroos back legs

He also demoed running and jumping on them so if my memory serves me right it was our own Mr Boeck on his prototypes

I will do some searching an see if I can find out more

Found this quote !?

"Many scientists and engineers have been attempting to build a robotic strength enhancing device since the 1950s, and they’ve failed," said Kazerooni. "It is only through recent engineering breakthroughs that this dream is now becoming a reality."

I know that I'd seen things like spring loaded stilts years ago ! :)
