Skegness July Event
« on: May 08, 2008, 04:51:45 PM »
Ok

Early days so trying to get some idea on support

Dates : Probably 2nd week in July Saturday or Sunday

The Council Sports Development Team are running a number of Beach based sports such as Beach Volley Ball, Beach Tag Rugby etc, etc.

They are very positive about including Bocking if we want to have an event in Skeg.

Possible Options

1) Just meet & bock along the front
2) Have a days event in Skeg with some activities based at the Beach Sports Site
3) Have a two day event Day 1 at the Sports event, day 2 along the beach

What do you think ?

Skegness has loads of camp and caravan sites, they tend to go all the way up the coast.

So it looks like i am begining to plan a two day event

For anyone who's never been to Skegness I've just found this.
First minuet is Skegness the skateboard building is the big white just before the golf cource !?
Just past the pair there's a lovely long path ( road side of the green area ).
Then goes along coast, very end is back in Skeg
Notice how flat Skegness and Lincs is !?

Quick update

meeting with East Lindsey tomorrow to see how a bocking event could be included in their sports events. I have been told that any cost incurred will be minimal, see what that means tomorrow !!

Can now confirm the following

Not a lot going off on the beach the activities are not scheduled for every week and generally only one ie tag rugby.

Not masses of support from the Council so this dictates what we can do

I have got acceptance for us to bock in the tower gardens on both

Suggest July weekend Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th. Arrive arround midday Saturday meet either at the train station or near the clock tower. Afternoon spent in the Tower Garden. Evening as you see fit

Sunday : Bock along the Seafront & some more fun at the gardens or anywhere you want. Depart PM

Also waiting to see if i can get either discounts or deals for camping or B&B.

Can you please begin to let me know if you are going to attend

I'll be there anyway !?
There's a nice car park opposite of Clock Tower never old Life boat station £4 for the day.
There's a car park opposite the train station for £3-£5 ( if it's wet it's cheap !? )
The coach station is right next to the train station.

The Tower Garden is just off the main road. Here's the step that lead down into the garden ( There's a slope to the left ).

If your coming by train, Icelands just across the main road cheaper drinks than on sea front !?
There's a nice low wall to put your bocks on too. Can't find pix of Iceland ( yet ) but this is from the wall looking to train station ( coach station is the other side of train station ! ) so you can see where you should be heading !?
