Fake £1 coins
I live in Boston and I've just found 2 fake £1 coins.

Their stamped the same both have the date 2005 on them and have the bridge picture on the back. A way for checking is real coins are ALWAY stamped central ( look at rim )

The colours a rubbed little off on one and the other the colours a little bit off, yellow tint to it.

I'll post the pictures ASP but if you do get any £1 coins in change check it !

Please. Please believe me I know I make jokes some times but this isn't.

Me !?
The top coin is rubbed and you can see more silver than gold and the bridge rails.
The bottom right is a very odd colour  ???
Both of these have off centre stamps and marking around the side ( not shown ) waves up and down.

If I wrong ( which I'm not ) at least it worth a look !?

Ok....I have more money than sense and I was curious,So, I did a bit of research and real pound coins are made from an alloy of Copper,Zinc and Nickel. As you can see from the picture,it's the same colour all the way through....Saying that 1p coins are now made from copper plated steel. This may well be the case with newer pound coins. The one I chopped in half was minted in 1983!

Those pound coins have been around for many years, i have had many customers try to palm them off to me without any luck, as i have handled cash all of my working life. You can tell they are fake just by the weight, they are lighter then the kosher coins and are made from a lead based metal covered in a metallic gold paint. Im also good at detecting forged bank notes. I should work in a bank really! jelly x
