digital 8 tapes, what to do?
« on: August 03, 2008, 10:53:24 AM »
right then im stuck atm, my first camcorder which is broken, was digital 8.
so i have tapes of lil Neros first steps and birthday, along with a couple of other tapes of which im not sure of the content.
obviously there is NO point me paying £70 to repair the camcorder when my current one is straight to dvd and better quality, but i really need these tapes converted to the pc or dvd.
Any ideas?

Ask on the forums to borrow one !?

I've got a Digital 8 camera but can only copy to VHS or very bad digital format  :(

I was gonna suggest a Zazzle Box but if your cam's packed up totally it won't work :(

hey nero,
I have just been given a semi-profesional video 8 camera. I am not sure if that is the same as digital 8 or not ???

Either way for it to be any use to me I need to be able to get the footage on the PC and I will do it by getting one of those gizmo's that take a phono input and go out to usb/firewire. The guy that gave me the camera would quite like his tapes put on DVD so if I find and get the little gizmo and if the video/digital tapes are the same I would be able to do it for you.

cool, nice one spud, but it needs to be firewire for digital 8, usb cant take the stream.
the only "8" cams i know of are digital 8 and hi 8
hi 8 wont go to pc where as digital will

I will see if I can sort it. I have firewire for my DV cam but the gadget I am getting will take any phono output and bring it up just like my DV cam and firewire...In theory. i just need to work it out. I have got one of these things downstairs but it is not XP freindly grr.

Digital and non digital are different but essentially import to PC in a simular way. And because it is real time importing it is essentially just taking what it see's, converting and saving it.

If thsi way really sucks I will speak at college about it. Although out lecturers are a bit like in a goldfish bowl.

Its well strange..me and one of my teachers does work for the same person. But I am cheaper so I get more lol. And I am better
