First ever Spring Loaded Stilts
« on: August 07, 2008, 11:12:02 AM »
Around 11 years ago a man put a patent of a pair of stilts with a spring on them.

What is claimed is:

1. Device for facilitating the locomotion of a person comprising:

a spring system removably attachable to a leg of the person, the spring
system including at least one spring element, the spring system enabling
the person, by compression and deflection of the at least one spring
element, to walk on a ground surface by jumping step-by-step, said at
least one spring element comprising a leaf spring having an arc-shaped
configuration

But back in August 1954  Professional acrobats  Bill Gaffney and Tom Weaver demonstrate their  pogo stilt  invention.

Now read the claim again but miss out the green bit !

Spring loaded stilts first made in 1954. Unless you can know different ?

is this your way of working round the patents so your fusions can be mass produced?
interesting find though DK

When I'm making Fusion DNA ~ EVOLUTION  :Dark_Knight:
Now maybe you may see more than one of those  8)

Notice they use Cuffies and what looks like trainers :)

Next mission is to track them down (where are they now ) ?

In 1997 in a episode of "The Simpsons" called "Homer's Phobia" Bart walks about a shop on "Pogo Stilts". These look like normal peg stilt with hand poles below the foot plate are coil springs .

Quote

In another part of the store, Lisa is looking at some items, when Bart
shows off what he's found.

Bart: [walking on pogo stilts]  Hey, Lis, check it out: pogo stilts.
These were banned in all 50 states.
[Bart's foot slips; one pogo springs into the air and hits
        something]
Homer: [off screen]  Ow!!  Ohh!  What happened?
-- Helpless victims of freak accidents, "Homer's Phobia"

It's 3/4 down the page.

Didn't get a chance to grab a screen shot but maybe someone has it on DVD and get one ?

Those type of spring loaded stilts are still around. I'll dig out some pictures of the latest people using them sometime.

Have you seen the patent for the original Powerskip by Alexander Bock, it's titled "A device for helping a person to walk" I think he got that wrong coz I think it's just easier to walk normally myself. It's definately more fun tho!

You are so OWNED Schoie !

Watch me on and off my stilts !?
Because of my bad ankle I have a permanent limp ( Some days are not to bad ) and could walk more than 5 miles without getting in real pain.
I may not be the best bouncer on stilts but I can bock around all day long on them. The spring absorbs and impact of walking and can goes miles and miles. At night when I take them off it looks like I've fallen over I'm limping that badly !

Spud and Dan know that after Spalding I was in real pain when I took them off !

You brought a bit of yourself back LOL
But that doesn't last long ? I went to CB07 and only had used them for less than 10 hours one notice I was rubbish ( I know I still am ).
