I can't believe a little set back on a loction can put people off trying to bring CB to Norwich.
If we can be allowed the rope off part of the Forum then we would not only be safe to others but a draw for the local shops which could be a selling piont
Little set back! Right, where are the 2 places that we bock in norwich. 1)the moat 2) the forum that means we have lost 50% of the bocking spots. If thats "a little set back" then omg, a big one would be something like norwich being set on fire and burnt to the ground!
Question number 1)
Was Norwich the most ideal location for capital bocking from the start? No, It wasn't. It was not a bad spot and was definitely do-able. I liked the idea. But as a ideal location, far from it as there are only very small (but plenty) of good bocking areas.
Question 2)
Realistically would it be possible to a) block of an area of the forum b) would they actually do it?Seeing as the forum is, although privately owned, a public area I think it is very unlikely that we would be able to get an area closed off. The forum has a libary, and was the reason it was built. It now plays host to the BBC and a few shops too but it is mostly for the public library. Why should the public be inconvenienced by our presence? Is there a benefit to the forum?
Also, the forum area is rented out, both inside and out. During the summer it is often used by people making displays. Our flying club has had 2 there. So why the hell would they say we could go there. They could lose a few thousand £ by doing that. And again, what can we give to them that would be worth that? Unless we got some money or people payed that is not realistic. We hired areas of the forum, and we had a bit of space, but not that much, it cost about £300 for 2 days. they could probs fit say 6 like that inside the forum and another 6 outside. Unlikely but thats kinda how much it would cost.
Question 3)
Is it really a selling point? A benefit to local shops? No, because this is an event for bockers, so unless we advertise prior to the event, or go on a huge shopping spree people that see us will have been going already, if anything, it will be negative. More they look at us less spending time they have.
My statement regarding the EAs reputation:
I think it is a bad time to hold any big meets at norwich, At the moment things are unstable. I dont think it needs to be shaken up. At the mo we have lost the place that was critical to CB, and we have no other places to go..yet. So really, can anybody say having a meet somewhere where the best areas are off the table for now say that it is a good idea? I am not saying it wont be sorted, or there wont be another place to bock but right now I can't guarantee anything, It is a poor investment of energy and could leave people disappointed. It is a much better idea to go somewhere where you can guarantee the event and spots.
