talking of overactive posting, comes to summat dk when you have more posts than the admin of the site

Now to answer that means I have to post something  :Ctwitcy:

And we are going WAY OFF TOPIC.

The plan is that "CB09" will be held in Norwich and even where the EA's have been told their banned could still be a option if we sort it out for the EVENT  :Csmile:

Good Idea back on topic

I have kept my thoughts about CB this year to my self and watched it develop

We really need to settle a venue in the next month or so I know how hard the organisers work to make it fun and get a good venue and I must say all the venues seem to have good and bad points

The first one in london was fun and well done as we were all new to big meets but london does n't have a central bocking area where we can all go and camping is a no go

Cardiff was brilliant and the Bay is good bocking but can we expect the council to accept us year on year, good for camping even if the washing facilitys could do with a bit of work  :Claugh:

Norwich sounds nice if Spud can perform a miracle and get the Forum on the adgenda

Others have been mentioned but the only one under way as far as I can see is Norwich and they seem to be having lots of setbacks

If we can't all settle on a place it is likely that it might not happen and that would be a tragedy

At the mo I would say Norwich is a no. I personally would not be happy with having so many bockers there, I would want to make sure we are totally welcome first.

I know its a bit of a far thought and there are no groups in the cities but what about Edinburgh or Belfast is there any chance of holding CB09 there? the organising could be a bit of a problem I don't know, I don't know how hard it would be from organising it in Cardiff or London or whether Edinburgh and Belfast have a suitable place for 200-300+ bockers to bock

Well said Spud

Maybe next year when all is sorted not worth ruining your bocking area for a couple of days

The problem with north of the border or over in Ireland is that for a lot of bockers it is too far away and a large percentage of bockers are based middle to south so it won't happen until a lot more people take up bocking there sorry

Whatever happens, Capital Bocking will take place in 2009.

Locky and I need to sit down and talk with Becky and Muncher and we shall come to an agreement, currently myself and locky are looking at a 1-day event in London, then 2010 we'll most likely head back to Cardiff with a bang, bigger and better than ever before. This all needs to be agreed and finalised though, so don't quote me on it.

well Edinburgh and Belfast were just an idea, I kinda guessed that was the reason why it hasn't been held there

Me and choco bean are up for CB09 anywhere, its a long drive to all of the main cities from Bradford so it wont bother me driving, though if its london I may consider national express

i'm probably the closest to contact with edinburgh anyone really has regularly round here :P it may be possible (very small chance) to rent the floor of the climbing wall building, which has a large thick matted area, although not gym style (not as soft), just to prevent injuries if you fall when bouldering, other than that, i can think of a few squares which could be suitable, and a park, near princes street (basically the centre) which could be fun.... i've never really been in...

There's also the Royal Mile, which, as it suggests, is a near straight, pedestrianised up-hill road, although i dont know how suitable it would be....

Just a bit of information, if anyone would consider it, after all, CB is a camping trip, no? we could see about areas in edinburgh to camp... lol

Ok fine, Norwich is a NO GO!!! Muncher isnt happy    but we cant make them unBan us from there. If people are up for London then i think it would be a good idea to do 2 days. There is so much to see, by the time you get down to london find a parking space, you wont have very long to bock before you a are heading off again. It would be good for people to see the sights aswell as show off the sport. There are good campsites in and around london which are easily accessible by train and road into the centre of london. There are also places to crash i.e mine, my bros and peeps in kent and essex. Not to mention hotels, motels, B&B's and hostels! Im up for Helping to organise this meet as i live and work in London and my job is in leisure and tourism, so could suggest places for us to bock and sight see. jelly x

I can't believe a little set back on a loction can put people off trying to bring CB to Norwich.

If we can be allowed the rope off part of the Forum then we would not only be safe to others but a draw for the local shops which could be a selling piont   :Cwink:

Little set back! Right, where are the 2 places that we bock in norwich. 1)the moat 2) the forum that means we have lost 50% of the bocking spots. If thats "a little set back" then omg, a big one would be something like norwich being set on fire and burnt to the ground!

Question number 1)
Was Norwich the most ideal location for capital bocking from the start?
No, It wasn't. It was not a bad spot and was definitely do-able. I liked the idea. But as a ideal location, far from it as there are only very small (but plenty) of good bocking areas.

Question 2)
Realistically would it be possible to a) block of an area of the forum b) would they actually do it?
Seeing as the forum is, although privately owned, a public area I think it is very unlikely that we would be able to get an area closed off. The forum has a libary, and was the reason it was built. It now plays host to the BBC and a few shops too but it is mostly for the public library. Why should the public be inconvenienced by our presence? Is there a benefit to the forum?

Also, the forum area is rented out, both inside and out. During the summer it is often used by people making displays. Our flying club has had 2 there. So why the hell would they say we could go there. They could lose a few thousand £ by doing that. And again, what can we give to them that would be worth that? Unless we got some money or people payed that is not realistic. We hired areas of the forum, and we had a bit of space, but not that much, it cost about £300 for 2 days. they could probs fit say 6 like that inside the forum and another 6 outside. Unlikely but thats kinda how much it would cost.

Question 3)
Is it really a selling point? A benefit to local shops?
No, because this is an event for bockers, so unless we advertise prior to the event, or go on a huge shopping spree people that see us will have been going already, if anything, it will be negative. More they look at us less spending time they have.

My statement regarding the EAs reputation:
I think it is a bad time to hold any big meets at norwich, At the moment things are unstable. I dont think it needs to be shaken up. At the mo we have lost the place that was critical to CB, and we have no other places to go..yet. So really, can anybody say having a meet somewhere where the best areas are off the table for now say that it is a good idea? I am not saying it wont be sorted, or there wont be another place to bock but right now I can't guarantee anything, It is a poor investment of energy and could leave people disappointed. It is a much better idea to go somewhere where you can guarantee the event and spots.
