Being called Dark Knight and people thinking it was to do with batman ( which it's not ) I spray my old pair of stilt matt black. I got the paint for nothing so just spray away and they look great ... at first.
Because of the amount of chrome the paint can easily be bumped off. If you plan to pant the chrome either use a good primer and/or scuff it so the paint can hold.
I can just touch the bump is second but there's no piont painting a great design on them if the first bump peels it off !

You should have scuffed the metal with wirewool or brush first, same as when you touch up bodywork on cars. You can easily do that now and re-spray them. I've already been thinking of painting mine since i tend to customise a lot of things anyway such as boots, clothing and dolls.

I know that I could remove the paint from the chrome part having owned a custom motorbike. I was thinking of swopping the knee bars over to another pair and scuffing up a spare pair of knee bars I have. So the chips can be touched up and the chrome means it can all be removed.
The main frame is a different matter it will stick to that.

With all the mix of different metals and plastics if your thinking mono colour you'll need a good base colour primer.

If you really want pait to stick to alloy you need to use a self etching alloy primer as aluminium forms an oxide layer to fast for paint to stick to it even if you abrade it just before you paint (painting a series 111 landie was fun

)

You can get self etch primers for alloy and plastics from a good car paint company but read the data sheets first as some are in the highly toxic end of nasty and need air fed masks to use (some don't but best to check)

Or just use paper masking tape over the chrome parts

For a lot of stuff you need proper ventilation and proper extractor fans and stuff. And the masks that make you look like a bug

I was in a paint shop one, we left it with extractor fan on for a few mins and went back in without masks, Thought it would be fine but before I knew it the lights were dancing in rainbow colours, you gotta watch out for that magic paint, gets everywhere

Seriously tho even if you cant see the paint some of the nasty stuff is still in the air, I gotta remember that

At work I don't bother with mask or anything and don't get anything on me, but one lads paints himself almost as much as the boxes !

The stuff I'm talking about is isocyanite based and has a few health problems with it like if you breath it in it acts like a good layer of super glue should it seals your lungs and no matter how hard you try to breath you can't

The net result is you are dead by the longest time you can hold your breath (oh and there is no cure

)

They also insist on full facemask as if you get a speck in your eye is some of them can cause poisoning and others just blind you by sticking your leyelid to the front of your eye

In other words make sure you know what is in the sprygun before you pull the trigger or your playing russian roulette

We are talking about cover up all tghat nice chrome with paint.
I would mind covering the dull metal and plastic in chrome !

I did the same but everythings matt black to but then I'm " The Dark Knight "

The problem with Matt black is if you walk into a room with the light off it's easy to find them ..... with your toes

Mono coloured stilts if done right do stand out, even black ones, try it "Photoshop" a picture and turn a pair one colour you'll see what I mean !?
