i see pinhead didnt get a mention here
pushing quick release straps in all versions is cool, but you all still
miss one of the important things everytime...
buy a cheap buckle and it will break, the downforce used at the point
of the knee when bocking is incredible, a broken buckle can result in the twisting of the knee, which hurts like.... well it hurts....
as jason will tell you and agree, the inventor of an idea has generally tried
all methods in arriving at his final product...i tried dog collars, belts (which funnily work well) harnesses etc they all work to a degree, some better than others...i also chopped the original strap off once the idea was perfected..
but if you do make your own, at least use a heavy duty dog collar meant for
bigger dogs like bull breeds, avoid pound shops, one of my x-girlfriends
worked in one and ive never seen a good buckle once...
there are 3 buckle materials i have used...
you can get metal which are good, but mainly from usa around £2 each
nylon which i would avoid as some can be brittle and break..
the best practical and strongest buckle are made of acetal..
which is a military grade buckle used for their packs etc...
so when you check an item description, see if it says acetal, if not, dont go there.....after all, it is your safety....you can find them on ebay in all shapes and sizes and they range in price, from £1 each upto £6 some even have a light on..wtf...
nexus being the better of the brands to go for...trust me i know
if not, ask locky,becky,dawsome,ricc,jono,zeb,101. or any of the welshies for that matter i could list all 300 + i have made but hey, its a novel already...
be safe...make em safe... oh, and a partridge in a pear treeeeeeeeeee
