Welcome Gixer,
Nice suit!
I do believe there have been jumping stilts at Burning Man before, but don't quote me on that.
Perhaps I'll see you there  :D

It's an easy mistake to make, it's not like the sandtrooper costum is in pink or have womanly bits on it.  :P

Hey Guys, am new here (really? never!)  Me and my girlfriend bought one another PJs for each others birthdays this year.   Thought i would join the forum and see if i couldn't meet some of you.   I had my second go today, still not fallen off or broken anything, so reckon i'm doing pretty well so far!   Really enjoying it too.   Would be interested to meet anybody nearby who could help us get better at this, we are both in Grantham, about half an hour East of Nottingham.

How do you ever learn to do the more adventurous things, like the flips?  It seems to me that unless you get it right the first time you try it you are going to end up with a broken neck!

Anyhow nice to be here, hope to meet some of you soon,

Stik

Hiya Stik

Welcome to the forum, Nice move joining up - get the girlfriend on here too

The more "adventurous" stuff comes with practice but it could be as soon as a couple of months before your flipping or take 5,6,7,8  :nana: However you will have plenty of fun along the way  :)

Make sure you add yourself to the Pro-Jump map so you can spot people nearby and they can spot you and look out :)

Have fun & if you need any advise just ask.

Welcome aboard Stik,
Firstly you need to fall over asap, it's the only way you will get over the fear of falling and it rarely is painful. There is SXNutta in Leicester during Uni term times and Becky over in Coventry and the Gillyberts in Derby. So there are quite a few peeps in your vicinty. Look out for midland meets, I think there is one coming up soon but you will have to check the meets section of the forum for that. Learning flips is not as scary as it seems. If you have any kind of gymnastics or trampolining experience it will be all the more easier. Probably the nearest gym to you for bocking is in Bradford unless the EAB's have sorted a gym out. If you are prepared to travel, and it really is worth it, then try and get to a JJ's or essex powerbockers gym meet. You will learn so much and get loads of encouragement. Better still have a word with Becky she may get a midlands gym meet organised.
Good luck and have fun

Hiya Stik

I live in Bottesford just outside of Grantham (6 miles). My son and I bock regularly in the area and at the Bottesford Skate Park.

there is a training meet being planned for early March in Lincoln. Please go to the EA Bockers area it is under indoor Training.

* Stik begins trying to fall off

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.  I know Bottesford, CharlieB, good to know there are some people nearby.  Definately interested in the Lincoln meet, just up the road from us, shall try and bring the gf along too!   Goodness knows we both need some assistance :)
