Hey sammy,

Welcome to the forum and the EAs :) If you want to try some bocks out (again?) we are at the gym next sunday letting people have a go.

Have you booked your place for lincoln?

 :spudT:

EDIT: I actually have no idea what we are doing at the gym. I am not sure if it is a come and try day or an event where we just hand out leaflets. Maybe another EA can confirm this but it is not a normal EA meet.

I'm to old for this but my daughters have being nagging me to buy them some for their birthdays. Katie and Alice been going to gymnastics for around eight years and have won medals. How safe are these things has anyone been badly hurt? And are the any girls or is it just boys? Are there trained coaches to teach for this? Sorry if I sound overly concerned but as a single mum I worry about my girls.

hi
i am toddy a part of the kent group.
these are really safe as long as you wear the correct protection, the minium is wrist gaurds, i wear wrist and knee pads, some people wear helmets etc but it is all down to personal prefrence, and as to hurting your self, unless you start to do some of the very big tricks it is not very common.
as to boy's and girls, the admin( webmaster(naz)) and spud are both girls who bock, and there is quite a few in the kent group and in most groups there are some girls.
and as for trained coaches there is not any but most of the experienced bockers will and can teach new people well, to walk, run, bounce and then the tricks come later.

hope this helps, and i do teach people in the kent area if they want me to.

Hello Bingo,
At the last Gymfest there were some young girls, I'm really bad with ages but I would say around 15ish maybe younger (maybe older?) Teenagers anyway. If you post where you're from maybe you could attend one of the gym meets we have at various places around the country and this may put your mind at ease. Also they are as safe as houses as long as you wear adequate protection and don't try anything daft.

Thanks you lads for replyings to my quistions. When their father had them last they meet a big man on a pair and they've nagged me to check them out. I've just joined today while their away to check why they so want these things. I thought they where something off the TV. It's nice to know there are girls too. I'm cleaning the house this weekend but will be reading about them. I don't think I'd fancy it I'm a little passed that sort of thing my girls are 14 ( I'm giving my age away (: ).

Hello all, ordered mine today and hoping they turn up tomorrow as I am in B'ham from Thursday till Sunday.

I live in South Wales, in a town called Cross Hands, for the non-initiated it's about 20 mins NW of Swansea, for the really non initated it's about 50 mins West of Cardiff.

In all honesty I probably do not have enough time to get into this but I visited my family in Exeter this w/e and my future brother in law had a pair, tried them and was running within minutes, and had a lot of fun with them for the limited time I was on them.

Anyway that's me for now, I had a good read across most of them forums before I finally made my choice, I expect most of you guys had a hand in helping me decide what and where to buy (PJ ofc), I was also impressed with the speedy replies to the few problem posts I read from the long term forum users and the admins, so thanks  :Cnotworthy:

I'm going to B'ham Thurs, but I will try and get down there next time, but thanks for the invite;-).

As for the bockers in Wales question, sheep probably are the answer, I know in my area the farmers have been putting those fences higher and higher in recent years, soon I'll be able to just jump clean over........anyone yet seen a bocker wearing wellies?

Oh and forgot to mention that I am 35.
