Webbing as bindings?
« on: September 10, 2009, 08:53:12 PM »
Ok so at the moment Im using Evo 2's that in my opinion are rubbish...

So I was thinking, would it be possible to use webbing, velcro and a few clamps to make bindings out of?

Also i want to get rid of the plastic footplates.

Has anyone got any close up pictures of bindings made out of webbing? and does anyone have any ideas on how this might work?

clamps - erm the ones that you use to secure webbing around like the ones that you use to secure calf cuffs with.

the evos are too plasticy lol, they dont fit to my shoe properly and are just generally uncomftable.

the footplate, i dont know about that it just looks too big im wanting something that looks more slique :P

Do you mean something like this  :Claugh:

Hand made from 25mm webbing,  hard wearing nylon material, foam ground mat and some bits from the original bindings

And very comfy too

Easy enough to make the heel support it is just ally angle
The fittings are attached to the support bar under the footplate with links cut out of a chain

The front bit is a bit harder it is ally checkerplate cut bend and milled

All the rest is a case of sewing and burning holes with a hot bit of steel wire

Got them on both my sets of moving footplate bocks but I tested them on fixed when I first made them so they work on them too

I just managed to get myself a pair of Flow bindings (what Tim has) and am in the process of fitting them.
The only problem is that once they are fixed I'm not allowed to try them out for another 6 weeks, lol

Here's a few pics anyway:

In the second one you can see that I need to drill a hole through the front ladder strap to actually fit them.

I don't think they are exactly the same but to be honest i don't know, they look pretty similar

It was basically whatever the shop i asked had in their spare parts box

im just ribbin ya athoul, but i am mega happy to be the only bocker i know of with the bindings im using, part of the reason i wanted to put snow board bindings on my stilts was so they would be a bit more unique.
