sliding tyre socks

so having finally finished modding up my bocks I went out for a walk to try them out

was doing well untill I tripped slightly on the uneven footpath and had to stop after realising one of my tire socks had slid sideways meaning that the hoof rubber underneath was in contact with the path and being worn

having taken them off I checked I had the tyre strapped down as tightly as I could with the cable ties I had used which it was

I decided to use small tacks to stop the tyre slipping sidways however the tacks are not sharp enough to go through the rubber and bounce when I hit them with the hammer lol 

so what can I use instead? anyone else have this problem at all?

I was told to use hose clips.

i'm trying it out today and see how it goes

do it as a 2 person job, 1 person hold the tires whilst the other put the cable ties on, that's how i do it, and my tire socks never slip. Also, leave some excess over the sides of the socks, that way, if they do slip, it makes no difference anyway.

thanks alot daftbat thats really helpful when I manage to get some more cable ties I will redo them and hopefully that will fix the problem though I really dont want to glue them

the way i get around this is that i cable tiie the tyre off on the sides
if you know what i mean

this one is laces but if you are using cable ties you can tie them like this but link it onto the metal bracket that is bolted onto the springs

ahh yes I understand now unfortunatly I cut off all the part that on that tire is black like DK showed doing so I dont have enough spare to put a cable tie through

I am sure once I add something like glue or some tacks that will go through the rubber the sock will stop moving sideways I was just hopeing someone would have a different/better idea
