Looking to run!
« on: January 20, 2010, 12:49:16 AM »
Hi, I'm interested in a set of pro jumps, mainly with the view to doing a longish run in them, (50-60 miles) is this a wise idea or should I re-think! I have never used any before, what would be the best model to start practicing in and also be the best/comfiest for this sort of run?

Keep bouncing!

Running just a mile or two on bocks is damn hard work, they're heavy and use a lot of energy to run on. These things are more designed for jumping around on and having fun, rather than a method of transport.

50-60 miles is totally insane, I would not recommend it at all, get a bike instead! :Claugh:

I would say unless you are undergoing specialist training then 50 miles on bocks is impossible.

It's not like running at all.

You would be better off running on foot. There is no advantage of running on bocks in terms of efficiency. In fact, quite the opposite. Much more fun tho.

I think you'd be better off on a space hopper :D

Well actually they probably were designed to be more practical than what they are :D

We did a Mile charity fun run in December on ours and they are hard work, we ended up walking and jumping a lot rather than running! :Cyes:

Growing OLD is compulsory. Growing UP is optional. OPT OUT!

A lot of people have asked this question before and I'm not so sure it is as impossible as we all think

Now I walk a fair bit on mine and I find it faster and no more exhausting than on my feet

So if someone was to mix gentle jogging with periods of walking to recover I think the net result might be a faster journey than jogging on your feet

Would be interesting to find someone who is a dedicated jogger and get them to try it on bocks for a few weeks (I run like a brick  :Claugh: so not me)

Any volunteers (we would need a few to make it a good test) maybe 4-5 to get a true result and preferably people newish to bocking as a lot of us experienced bockers would be set in out jumping ways

Im going to run more and more when spring and summer come, i bought my flyjumpers in autumn, so i never had a change to try them fully, but i can tell you all, I have never fallen with my flyjumpers, even when i have walk about 3-4 hour after my work everyday in about 2 month until snow came and ice everywhere on roads.

Many thanks to Jason for his wonderful rubber sole with rubber studs!! :)

I will try buy some safety gear from pro-jump.co.uk next week, wulf knee pads, GMX jacket, wrist pads, i also want bionicknee pads and spine protector but they are out of stock =/
i hope they can send it with royal mail like Jason did, i give "royal mail" my full trust :)
