To dump or not to dump, that is the question???
« on: March 27, 2007, 10:47:37 PM »
I recently started going out with a lady who lives near me. Very nice person and we have been getting on alright. I actually met her over the internet. She claims to be open minded, adventurous and willing to try anything once. Within reason.

So the other day I thought I'd bounce over to her house on my stilts to show off a bit. I'm getting quite good at them and thought maybe they would impress her. Not that I need to but it would be a laugh anyway. So as I'm getting up to her house I called her on her mobile and asked her to take a look outside the front of her house. As I bounced up to her door she turned bright red, slammed the door in my face and wouldn't let me in until I had taken them off because she was too embarassed to let anyone in her street see me going into her house with them on.

Is she nuts or what? What is embarassing about a set of jumping stilts? I don't get it. It's funny though because she is the first person I have met with them on who found them embarassing. She thinks they are something for kids and that it's silly for a 31 year old to be on them.

So much for open minded and adventurous. I told her that there would obviously be a lot of time this summer that we will be spending apart because once the summer really hits you'll be hard pressed to get me off my stilts. Shame though I was hoping for a girlfriend who would share my passion not be embarassed by it.

The problem lies entirely with her.

She has grown up...for which there is no cure.

Ditch it. :)

If you really like her keep trying she might come round and even try them

or just keep on embarasing her (turn up at her work place on them with flowers and chocks) but don't blame me if she pushes you off of them or dumps you

When I told my wife I wanted some she just sighed , shook her head and bought me the safety gear
she then upped my life insurance she either loves me or is hoping to kill me off I'm not sure which

Then again She let me build a U-boat conning tower 8ft wide, 20ft high and 28ft long in our lounge for a local raft race so she must love me

That is a great idea Jason. She is going to a really fancy accountancy ball with her work. It's all ball gowns and tuxedos. Maybe I should show up in a tuxedo but with my PJs on. I could bound upto her right in the middle of the dancefloor. God she would kill me just for thinking about it.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Force her to have a go on them then she will realise what she is missing out on!

Couple of girls I know are like what you said, but that's their problem not mine! Weirdos!

Give you an excuse for his/her time. Whilst you're on them, that's your own quality time. When you not, you're a happy couple.

Sorted!

Carl.

PS I'm 39 so am older than you and am not the oldest  ;D

Nice. looks cool. Did it float? Or was it more authentic to a submarine then you hoped for?

Yep it floated on the day of the race the wind was behind us so it was like carrying about 40 sq mts of sail we had trouble stopping at the other end
we also took on 4 suvivours from another raft that sank next to us

the finnish line was a balloon arch tied to a tree on the bank and a boats mast on the river
We got the periscope caught in it and the bloke on the boat had to cut it free to stop capsizing
