Standing up with Tyre Socks
« on: August 29, 2010, 10:06:11 AM »
Good morning :)

My rubber feet are wearing down fast so I decided to make tyre socks using second hand tyres which were not too badly damaged.

I wandered around in the material of 4 different tires which I managed to get to try them all out, and everything seemed alright, but I cannot stand up from being on the ground with them. The problem is that there is not enough friction between my back foot and the floor when I'm trying to stand, so instead of pushing myself up my back leg just skids backwards along the floor.

Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas?

Cheers!

John

The tyres probably need wearing a little, I find that (even if they are older tyres) after a bit of bouncing they grip a lot more.

Also, I find that theres two ways to end up out of getting up (the way with one leg in front of the other right?) I find i can push myself so i stand up on my back leg or my front leg, changing so you push with your front leg might help, just an idea :L

Hopefully the tyres will wear in though :P
