Ex Smoker turned PowerJumper
« on: January 23, 2011, 11:55:27 PM »
Good Evening All,

I am a recently reformed smoker. 3 weeks off the fags and going strong. Unfortunately I am now holding up the 'bad for you' food industry single handedly!! They say when you stop smoking food tastes better.....I can confirm that I have eaten enough food to support a small county using the 'I wonder if this tastes any different now' excuse!! (although my other half tells me I have always been a bit of a piggy where food is concerned).

Anyway, to my dilemma. I am 6ft and currently sitting at about 95kg. I could go up or down in weight over the next few months and I am worried about which set of EXO pros to buy as I am right on the boundary between 90s & 100s.  So, do I go for the 90s, continue putting on weight and find I am bottoming them out within weeks, or go for the 100s, my dreams are answered, my metabolism sorts itself out and a Ryvita stops having the same effect on my body as a roadside cheeseburger and within weeks I am barely able to bend the springs!

To cut a long story short (which I tend to find quite difficult) do I risk bottoming out or working with springs that are a little to hard?

Thanks all,

Wylo

I know plenty of people who are using springs 10 Kg heavier than they are with no problem.  I'm 85 Kg and still using my old 100Kg springs.

Im not a real expert, but I you bottom the lighter ones out this would be a lot more of a pain than using harder ones.  With 100s the worse situation you would get would be just having to put a little more effort in to get the really high bounce.

I think you would really have to lose a lot of weight for it to be an issue.  By the time you've lost 10Kg, you might need to get a new set of springs anyway, and can then always go down a weight.
Hmmmmmmm........Why did I buy these again?!?!?!?

Yep I agree you would be better with the weight that suits you now

I intended to loose weight with them but just realised that I could eat more if I went on them regularly  :Claugh:

Most important bit is to get to a meet as soon as you can as it is so much more fun in a group (even a group of 2 )

Can't wait for Wednesday to come, along with my EXO pros.

Don't forget you need wristguards and knee and elbow pads as a minimum (really you do  )

Funny you should mention that Jason.

Was just having a conversation about the fact that 10 years ago, I would have spent all my time and effort working out which pair of bocks would offer me the greatest opportunity to demonstrate my bulletproof qualities, probably resulting in a broken bone or two.

These days, with wisdom and self-preservation on my side I have spent my time investigating and investing in said padding and protection. (again, my missus would argue I have enough 'personal padding' already!!)

I have invested in:-

GMX Wrist Support Protector Pads
Oneal Pumpgun Knee Guards
Shot Protector Adult Elbow Guards

Your thoughts on suitability would be greatly appreciated.

I use PitDirt knee and elbow pads but I don't think you can get them anymore

Any motorcross style kneepads are fine (they just seem to stay in place better than the short ones)

I broke my wrist quite badly when I started (stupidly not wearing wristguards  :Ccry:) so I bought Flexmeter Multisport wristguards and would recommend them highly

But it is all down to personal taste and the list you have seems fine and if they feel comfy you are more likely to wear them

Most important thing is to wear them  :Claugh: I see so many people on stilts while their pads sit on a wall nearby

Def looking forward to the morning and my new toys being delivered.

Agree about the law that says if you ain't wearing them, you're gonna need 'em!!

Funny how the accumulation of years change you. I can remember when not wearing your pads was the cool thing to do and a peanut style helmet was enough to get you beaten up in the playground. :Cerr: Nowadays, not wearing a plastercast or big bandage seems to be the cooler option!!!

Having said that, lets not get too carried away, i have yet to accumulate enough years to consider white socks and tan sandals a cool look!!
