Ok there is lots of new people on stilts looking for inspiration and wanting to meet other powerbockers. I want to get the new bockers to see what is like to go to a meet and want the old bockers to dust off their stilts and come join and show everyone what you can do, and how much fun it is.

The crappy winter weather is hopefully over and the good weather is coming so I think this would be the perfect time for a great BIG meet up. A big meet to start the year off.

I going to need everyone help with this. As I dont know where would be the perfect place to have this. I was thinking maybe somewhere in the middle of the country so everyone has the same distance to travel. Or maybe even 'London'.

The time to have the event I feel maybe the end of February? I feel this would be enough time for people to get time off work. If I'm wrong let me know.

I know this took a lot of time and organization but this should give you a idea of what a big meet is like.

Before christmas I did pledge that if the welshbockers won our £6000 funding that we would pay for a big gym meet anywhere in the country, wherever people thought the best location was so we'd be happy to tie it in with this. Are there any bock friendly gyms in london? I'm sure there must be.

Failing that, what about Bristol? I know there are a couple of good gyms there and some outside bocking spots and it's quite easy for everyone to get to being on the M4 and M5.

Hi Guys. I have spent quite a bit of time in and around Bristol looking for Bocking spots. Outdoors is ok, but not much luck with friendly gyms. I tried over a dozen.

The problem with the big places also was that the outdoor surfaces were mostly artificial pitches, and they seemed very worried about them being damaged.

Bath Sports Centre was ok with it, but Bath is a bit more out of the way, and I can't think of many outdoor areas where we wouldn't get moved on from. The canal towpath would be ok, but asking for trouble i expect. I'd put money on Locky being the first one into the wier. I could try going up a bit, Gloucester or Swindon?

, i am sure i can get the best gym in the uk ,( as used for the pro jump gym sessions) at a good rate for the whole day, as the venue could cope with the amount of bockers .

yes!

i know its not in the middle , but we still had lots there .and was a very good day, and the weather couldn't spoil it .

thats why I was thinking london as it would make a statement and right in the middle of most of the groups. The only problem is I dont know london that well.
where did you meet at the first capital bockeing? t-square? or where was the best place in london to meet?
I'm just thinking maybe london would be nice for people to see as well? I.E I have never walked round london.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, London is a long way South! there is quite a few guy up in Scotland now as well as all the guys Leeds and north east. Not to mention us up in the North west.
How about Birmingham? UK second city and a little bit more in the middle.

To be honest I dont mind where we have it because I feel a lot of people will enjoy it where ever we have it.

it just finding the right place so most people can get to it. I know there's a lot of great bocking places out there.

Once we have a place I'm sure people will try their best to be there.

It looks like Birmingham could be the best place to do this meet. It is right in the middle of everywhere.
I have to start putting things in stone.

I hope Birmingham is ok for you 'chocl8' and the other EA's. Its a little further than Nottingham.

Its also closer for you 'Chris from AcroAir'. You could lets everyone know at your gym.

I've emailed birmingham council to see if any of their sports centres would be suitable for this. Sent them a link to a gym video too.

just if you are using it to show how good the gym is and how amazing the facilities are , then why not cut to the chase and just use it

?

As stated its not in the middle but but people came from all over the uk as it was a guaranteed event the weather couldn't spoil .

just thinks its crazy looking for places that are of unknown entity s, when there is (in my opinion) the best gym in the uk willing to hold such events .

as there seems to be more of us northerners now , who want to attend gym meets, as cardif is a long way for us , but we supported the CB events.

Thanks locky for that, anything you can help with would be very appreciated. I've been looking around the area of Birmingham and it has some really nice places. I also think I've jumped around there years ago with 'Nero'. I'll try and get in contact with him and the 'Rise up' team and see if they can tell me all the good spots.
I thing a great place to meet up would be Birminham council areana

The lincoln gym is great, but it would be good to get people out with the public. and showing the public the sport and get people interest in the sport more.

I think your probably right holding it in the middlands as it is central to the country

I feel that CB London was such a success due to the transport links being so good to London
and at the time there were very few people bocking north of Watford

Saddly due to circumstances probably couldn't make end of feb (I don't travel much and don't speak foreign languages anyway

)

My first question is why do just one

There are enough people in the birmingham area and within easy traveling distance to make a good meet in Feb

So have that one and then do another one in London later in the year

And if Locky was agreeable maybe a Cardiff one later

That way everyone would have a chance to get to at least one

I was thinking the same thing Jason. I originally said Bristol because I know we have a newbie there plus the riser raptors, jumpy stilt kings could easily make that. But then the guys up north and in scotland would have no chance.

well I'm down south so I was thinking about hiring a minibus and picking up some southern softies =P I know the riser raptors will come and They have helped me out a lot in the past.

I agree there should be more if this goes well. Change the place each time. Maybe London next time or Bristol.

I'm doing this to help other bockers meet each other and show the public anyone can do it. I am here to help anyone with question or help with stilting if you come to the meet.

So are we going to do Birmingham this time? I'm thinking the last weekend in February....so Saturday or Sunday would be better?

Have a look at this, June 2010. Big meet in Brum. Great day if the weather is good. Don't know anything about any gyms but I'm sure the brum guys will.

Yeah I do think we need a gym though incase the weather is bad and the newbies can learn very quickly in a gym environment.
