Heavy friends
« on: June 19, 2007, 04:26:10 PM »
Ok I'm new to this whole thing and have been lurking round this forum getting answers to questions so I don't need to ask, but I do have one question I need help with.

Well I am around 54 kg in weight and still growing so I was thinking of getting the 70kg set of pro-jumps but my friends say they will want lots of goes on them and they are much heavier than I am.

So I have a problem, get the 70kg set and my friends will bottom out (think that's what it's called) lots... or get the 80kg+ set and it probably wouldn't bottom out for them but would be worse for me.

 ???

I'd say get the 70kg esp if you are new to bocking. I wouldn't let the friends jump on it but walking may be fine.

If they are over 70kg I wouldn't let them near them
 ;D

well if you got the 80 kg pair and your heavy friends went on them they would get broke in (made bouncy) quite quickly but if your not really bothered about your friends having a go then get the 70 kg pair.

Letting your friends have more than one go on your stilts is a sure way to get them broken.
No matter how heavy or light they are, its just not worth it.

I use 110Kg which is about my weight so I'm stilt so I bottom them out a lot.
I've got a pair of 70Kg and tried them on, not to bock just to see what happens.
I stood up and the spring bent but I took a couple of step and they didn't bottom out. So if anyone of your mates wants to try theirs on the springs do take a lot but I'd said if their more than 20Kg over max DON'T LET THEM EVEN STAND UP ON THEM !?

I dont think ppl over the weight should really use the stilts, they have a upper limit for a reason! You are likely to stress them and its also not a good way to wear them in as its your technique that needs improving not the stiffness of the spring.

I've lost to dear friend partly because of weight problems, that's why you shouldn't make fun of people like that.
Doesn't bother me I heavy not fat ( That's me in my picture ! )
