Big Bock Meet 2013

As I write this, we're still 6 hours and 22 mins away from 2013 however some of you may remember the Big Bock Meet that Joe spearheaded last February in Birmingham. If you dont know anything about it, watch the video below as it was a great day. Amazingly, we all travelled from various locations to Birmingham and none of us were local to the city. The weather was perfect which is always a massive gamble at any time of the year in the UK.

So, shall we do it again? And if yes, where?

I'd be in favour of Basingstoke because I really enjoyed it there and seems central enough however its not very town central but do we really need that?

I agree that basingstoke is "central" in terms of its pretty much slap bang down the mid-point of the country but it's still a fair way, i propose somewhere a little bit further north so that its slightly more central in terms of being in the middle.

In all seriousness though its good for me and people down south but for anyone north of Birmingham it's a proper trek.

But as long as its not too far from me I'd be up for it

Why do we need to do just one
My thinking is that the chance of people like Clive and I getting up north depends on so many things going right we probably won't make it however much we want to
So do one down here and another up there and it may have less at each but if you keep them a few weeks/months apart a lot of people will visit both so you will get more over all

Well after the success of last years meet in brum, we did decide these things should happen every few months at different locations. Problem is, nobody bothers to organise it. I can believe the birmingham meet was nearly a year ago :/
A couple of months after brum, we travelled down to Plymouth (video here)and had a great day with the riserraptors and jumpy stilt kings but that was organised very last minute due to good weather mostly. Sadly I dont think they've had a meet up down there much since that day which shows how easy people can go from full throttle to dead stop.

One of the main problems is nobody wants to go to a small meet and the opposite is true that if there are already 15-20 people going to a meet then others would be more inclined to make the extra effort.
I might be speaking a bit out of line here but I quite often feel like a meet comes alive as soon as I say the welshies are coming when infact it's not really a big deal, infact I think only 4 of us came to Basingstoke and even at CB there were only 5 or 6 of us but we'd probably manage a good 8-10 welshies at a big meet now.

Ironically, I dont even know how to make a successfully organise a big meet. I dont know what the magical difference is between someone saying lets have a meet and only 3 people show up and someone saying lets have a meet and 20 people show up :/

I suppose organising a meet were you know people will like to bock with stuff to jump on/off and places around for shops and amenities and maybe if the meet is at a place where there is a lot of people around to watch so people can (bad way of saying it but) show off on the stilts might make a lot more people show up.  Eastrope in Basingstoke is a good place to go but its not like a skate park with more things to jump on or a place in London with steps and walls to jump on etc

Basingstoke would be handy but like David says its not fair for people north of Birmingham but then anything north of the midlands is going to be hastle for people down south.

You could do a meet at all the places where meets happen on a regular basis Basingstoke/Staines in Wales, Birmingham, Plymouth and then people can travel around and not miss out on all of it as they can go to the ones they can get too.

You could do FEB in Basingstoke
                   APR in Wales
                   Jun in Birmingham
                   Aug in Plymouth
             and Oct in London which would correspond with the hallowen meet

I think it depends on what we want from a “Big Meet” If it’s to have a couple of get together’s then is that not a slightly larger than normal LOCAL meet? 

If it’s to be a “BIG” meet then it needs to attract as many people as possible from all over the country and thus needs to be, as far as possible, as near or far for every one so the amount that each person has to pay to get there is the same. Everyone is short of cash! So I’m for Birmingham for a BIG meet but I do like the idea that Gremlin says but April in Wales is usually wet!!!

I'd be happy for Birmingham again Ste, I think it worked really well last year and it should be central enough for most to get to?

Hey all! Its been a while since i've been on, i have had a long time off stilts because there is just simply nobody nearby to go out and about with so it can get pretty boring, also moving house twice doesn't help lol. Anyways i am looking to get back into the swing of things and what better way than to start attending events! I hope that i can start attending more events and from what i've read Birmingham seems like the way forward.
