Cambridge Sports Hall Meet November
« on: August 31, 2007, 02:25:04 PM »
OK ive managed to blag our way into a Gym in Chesterton in Cambridge i spent about half hour on the phone to a lovely lady at the gym and convinced her to let us hire the hall to practice flips and stuff, the best time available is a tuesday were we can get the hall for 2 hours on a night time, i asked for November as the EA bockers have a meet in October and plus the weather will be pretty crap in November  :)

The hire of the hall will be £20 an hour, so the more people who come the lot cheaper it will be if 8 people show up its a Fiver each well worth it i think, bockers from everywhere are welcome im not sure if they have foam pits but she did say we could use everythink in there and crash matts will be available to us any intrest or a specfic date would be a good start it has to be on a tuesday tho thats the exception hopefully hear from you guys soon

All Bockers Welcome Not Just EA Guys

Sounds good, so would be nighttime on a tuesday sometime in November? I think i can make all of them, possibly... :-\

P.S. if 8 people went and its £20 wouldn't that be £2.50 each? (sorry i know thats annoying but i just couldn't help it  :P)

Hope you dont mind me butting in again. But may I tell you a few things Ive found with gyms and sports halls.

The 1st is re the hooves. On some surfaces the black rubber can leave marks and they dont like that. The worst case is when you arrive you may be told 'oo cant have them on the surface' or just not permitted back.

There are 3 solutions ( ive tried them all) 1st put 'real' sox on the hooves and secure with elastic bands or cable ties. But be warned cant be used  on nice shiney wood surfaces. 2nd put trainers on the hooves, you may remember Muffin Man did that for the London meet. 3rd ask if they have an indoor cricket whicket they could roll out and use it as a runway. Its good to have these solutions to hand if you 'phone other gyms and they bring up the problem --sounds like you know what you are doing and more likely to get a 'yes' :)

Next, to add variety, for warm up and for people who may not want or may not be ready to flip ( and so may be put off going along). See if the gym has any 'foam blocks', used in gymnastic practice and in creches ( ;D). Can be used to jump over both for height and for distance and, laid in a row combinations. Plus if put infront of the main crash matt may be used to encourage 'jumping-up' before atempting the flip. Rather thean peeps trying to fling themselves foreward.

i did explain to the woman exactly what they were when i was on the phone and i said i would pop in clsoer to the time and arrange a few things with her, she said we can use more or less anythink in the hall so hoping to use the vaultin horses and stuff like that,

on the day i have 2 girls from work who want to get tees so they could come along and film etc for us as ground crew

thanks for the ideas bmthbloke i will use them the cricket ones a good idea never would of thort of that, and of corz all will be filmed the hopefull flips the falls and hopefully no brakes will be recorded i think the comp for november should be worst accident filmed lol

Sorry butting in but .... this is going to sound stupid, what size feet did they use ?
Or should I walk into a shoe shop witha hoof ( I've got extra pairs ) and try some on !? Now that would be funny  ;D
