Hi All
I've had Man flu recently and as most of you know I seem to invent when I'm ill
So here are the latest Hoofies they are a little more permanent that the other type (take about 10 mins a hoof to change) and depending on where they wear they may be reversable (not sure about that yet only had them on for about 6 hrs)
You have to have a set of the bolt-on rubbers that are in good condition to fit them to (baddly worn ones won't work well)
And a set of special bolts and nuts (which I would supply in the kit)
Only for the bolt-on type obviously but they should work out a lot cheaper than the current ones
I was thinking about selling a kit with all the bolts and a set of rubbers and then you could just buy rubbers at a lesser cost
So have a look at the pics and give me your comments

looks really good jason. They look like they could be the most secure "tire socks" ever made.
-
they look super sweet. Excellent stuff jason.
-
awesome as usual Jason =) !
-
I'm impressed more so than usual! Looks much neater than any other sock and an extremely snug fit
-
Looks great! When can I buy some, and how much? ;D
-
Thanks for the nice comments guys and gals
I want to test them for a short while before I put them on sale (just to make sure I haven't missed any problems) so give me a couple of weeks and should be available
Also got to do a fitting walkthrough as they are easy if you do it right and very easy to get wrong
As for price I think I will be looking at £10 inc UK p&p for the kit which will include a set of 8 nuts and 4 studs and a set of rubbers
The replacement rubbers should be about £6 inc UK p&p and I should be able to reduce the postage if you buy more than 1 set at a time as they will go 1st class letter and fit the size easily
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
they look good jason, what we need now is a conversion set for the non bolt-on feet, lol

That seems like a pointles exersise 8)
:spudT:
-
Agreed Spud, Nutta you have the old style "cute" hoofies for that!
-
they look super cool, ill be getting some of them when i get some pj's
-
look sweet Jason. Will these also work for the new metal feet that go a bit higher up covering the rubber fully?
-
Yes they will work with any of the bolt-ons I've fitted them to both types but my older PJ's are normally used for testing as I use them at work so get more outside time on them
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
They look wicked Jason ;)
-
jason youve managed to amaze us all again :P
and does this one replace the original rubber hoof thing ???
-
No the bolt on bit goes in the middle and needs to be in fairly good condition also I know that the later style molded hoofs can be replaced with the bolt-ons as I did my set but I've never done a 1st generation set (the ones with no bend in the foot) so don't know if they can be replaced
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
Errrrr jason i want some, like now though  pleeeeeeeeeeease?
-
I second that notice I slipped so much yesterday I nearl lost the will to bock
-
Hi Nero and K-rock
I will get them tested as soon as I can and you two are at the front of the list
Should take a week or two to make sure they work OK
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
Great work. Now to convert everyone to bolt-on hooves..
-
cool, ill try and be patient then jason
-
id like a set please :) just the rubber though as we wouldn't need the studs
-
I was thinking about that Kiola I will do a walk throught on fitting and all the stud sizes as I think a lot of people will be happy to cut their own studs and supply the nuts themselves as they are fairly easy to make (if a little time consuming)
I will get the walk through done soon as they were a tad hard to fit until I figured an easy way
The hard bit was getting the rubber to line up on the under bolts (act like spacers and lock nuts for the studs) then I used some penny washers to press the rubber on and it stays in place while you fit it to the Hoof
One bit of bad news is that the present Studdies don't fit over the top of them so a redesign of the Studdies is on the drawing board :banghead:

I really don't get this. The other type of hoofies fit the non-bolt on hoofs.
:spudT:
-
I'll explain Spud
Normal Hoofies cost £18
Replacement rubbers for them cost £10
New bolt on style Hoofies kit will be about £10
Replacement rubber for them about £5 (and may be reversable (yet to try and depends on the wear patten) so might work out about £2-50 an end )
In other words the new ones look better and cost 1/2 the price (and maybe 1/4 of the price if I can use both ends)
And another good bit is the new ones don't slip to the side like tyre socks (at least mine haven't yet)
Hence the want to change

Ok just seems like it would be a big effort for that..could be worth it though.
-
nice work jason thay look like thay should b there
-
 allright JASON you rock these look really good a great idea indeed. if you need a guiney pig to hardcore on them ill happily try them out for ya... to test durability that is.. hehe...
-
dont want to be an arse but its been 19 days jason whats the results mate?
(yes im very impatient over this matter, sorry, i really need something on my stilts though lol)
-
They are holding up well so far and this weekend I should get a few hours on them
I'm still sorting out a few production problems with making the studs to fix them so not long now
I've got a lot on at work at the moment but it should calm down in a week or so and I'll be able to get some made up and you will be first in line Nero

Changing costs also involve 2 new hooves...can't remember how much they are, but it all adds up ;)
-
But that depends on the condition of your hoofs. if you have always had tire socks on them you wouldnt need to would you?
-
Im really interested in these, whats the latest Jason?
-
They have performed well on my bocks and I am selling them now
The starter kit is £10 inc UK p&p
The replacement rubbers are £6 inc UK p&p
Have a look here for a run through on fitting

Fantastic!!!! Projump should order a 1000 off you and sell them on their site ;D
-
And for those of us that are running the molded, beige hoof style (i.e. no visible bolts anywhere, on my poweriser pros), what options are available? We just gotta do the strap-on tyre socks?
-
There are another type of hoofies that jason sells. Just search for hoofies on here and you should find them :Hoofies2:
They cost more money than these tho
-
Thanks ET
Praise from you is always welcome
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
Jason i PM'd you, just to say that i have sent you £30 for three sets of the above as me and two of my friends would like a set of your hoofies ;D.
When can i expect delivery?
Thanks
Steve
-
PM'ed you Steve hopefully you'll get them monday or tuesday
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
Thanks Jason! cant wait to get these my hoofs are looking a bit worse for wear already
-
remember your hoofs need to be in good conidition to fit well. Maybe should have a break until they come
-
remember your hoofs need to be in good conidition to fit well. Maybe should have a break until they come
Ah that could be a problem as my left hoof is showing a bit of metal :o, will these hoofies last longer than the week my origonal pads did ?

I would oreder some more PJ hoofs before you use the hoofies. I am not all that sure why but jason has always said with these that the hoof rubber needs to be in pretty good condition.
the hoofies wont last longer than you PJ hoofs as essentially they are protecting and giving extra grip to that hoof but...the hoofies will extend the life of your hoofs by a lot. The hoofies take the punishment. And they will last lots and lots longer than just PJ rubber alone.
-
I recieved the hoofies today, Thanks Jason, think i will order me a new set of PJ hoofies then start a fresh with the hoofies on them. Cant believe i have worn them out so quick!
-
The PJ rubbers should be in good condition as the Hoofie rubber will then wear evenly
If you have metal showing through I would change them before you fit the Hoofies
Yes they should last longer than the PJ rubbers just make sure you fit them as shown with the holes in the right place then you can turn them round (It's obvious when you see them on) also keep an eye on them and when they wear right down to the first webbing turn them round (If you wear hoofs unevenly might be worth swapping left for right when they start to wear
So as the replacement rubbers cost £6 including p&p that makes £3 per wear so at £15 a set of PJ hoofs you can see the saving
The one thing I have found is the better you get the faster all types of hoofs wear
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
Got mine today. Gonna fit 'em now.Muchas gracias J!
-Nobby
-
Like the hoofies, impossable to fit though lol then nuts and the holes just don't want to line up, but I'll get there.
-

Lining them up with the big washers helps a lot Red_romper the tutorial here should help
http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=2083.0
but I do agree they can be dificult the first time you do them  I can change a set in about 5 mins now
I've sent you a PM System
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
Took me about 20 minutes.....I couldn't find my 8mm spanner
-
Jason i have just worn through a set of hoofies so will be sending you money for a replacment set.
I think i use my Bocks too much ;D
*EDIT*
I just sent £12 for 2 sets as im sure i will need another set in a month ;)
-
Yep T10HJS
The better you get the faster they seem to wear but at least they are cheeper than the pads are and I find with rteversing them I can get a good few hours on them but if your going through a set every 2 weeks you must be putting some time in on your PJ's
You must be getting really good on them now
I will get them in the post for you tomorrow morning
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
I must be on them about 2 hours on work days and 6+ on my days off (weather depending) but yea still really enjoying it, just want to get to a gym meet and start flipping now
Thanks im sure you will be hearing form me soon ordering another set ;D
-
all these things ive missed...
bolt on hoofs... that deffo helps for fitting socks snug

You see Pin you vanish and the world changes round you
Thanks for the praise and nice to have you back

Hi, I've made a silmilar mod on my roller blades, using old shoe heels for brakes. Clever huh! Lol.
I would love a pair of these but would like to hear some feedback on them. Like how long they last and general comparison to the originals.
Great work,
Jason, (a different Jason).
-
I have been using these. I don't think I have been using them long enough to give decent feedback but I can tell you what I know.
Jason doesn't know how long these last, he has had them on for months and they are still going strong so they last pretty well :D Jason should be able to tell you how long he has had them.
As for performance. I can't really compare these to the old style hoofies as I have only used them briefly on other peoples stilts...that aside...I love them! I dont ever want to use anything else. The issue I was having with tire socks before was with them slipping and laces breaking and stuff like that...now these replace the hoofs so it is no different to having the normal hoofs on. For me, personally it's the best part of the design.
Onto grip and things. Again, I cant compare to hoofies but I did use tire socks before that were almost as good hoofies on some surfaces (but not all). To begin with the advise about wearing them in a bit to begin with is spot on. I was given the advise..yet first time using them was in the gym and I have to say that was a little silly. But anyway..I have been using these for a couple hours now over different surfaces and they are great all round. I can compare better to the normal hoofs. I think on normal hoofs the grip is good on a lot of surfaces but wears very fast.
All I can tell you at the mo is that they are deffo as good as normal hoofs but they don't seem to wear at all. Oh..and they are deffo better on grass.
I will give some better feedback when I have spent more time on them..been uber busy :(

OOps Spud thanks for the good review but your in the MK2 section :Claugh:
Just to explain Juel Spud has been testing the new MK3 hoofies you can see them here
http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=3132.0
The Mk2's are good grip wise but didn't last as well as I hoped (about 40 hrs hard bocking) the MK3's are a complete hoof change and as Spud says seem to be lasting very well
Jason :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:
-
Hahahaha Ooops  The MK3 ones are still awesome :Cwink:
too many new hoofies :P
-
Yep Spud I think I'm gonna have to cut back on the Inventing :Claugh:
It's when I get to the double figures we will have to worry
Jason :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:
-
:Ctwitcy: I won't be worrying. Your inventions/mods are always awesome
:spudT:
-
Thanks Spud
It has made an old man very happy to be called awesome by a young lady :Claugh:
Jason :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:
-
I sent you the pics Jason - what do you think? Is it possible? =)
-
Possible Brendan but the size of the lump of ally would be a problem in two ways one of the added weight and the other of cost and time to machine
I did make something similar but out of rolled sheet steel so it might be viable to do it out of sheet ally give me a few weeks and I'll work at it
Jason :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:
-
Ah brilliant =) I did think about the weight, thats why I chose Aluminium. And at present I have shoes on them so I'm not opposed to a bit of weight if it does the job. But I admit I had absolutely no idea about costs and machining time. So please do what you think will work best you magnificent machining magician. lol. ^_^ I'm excited to see what you come up with. =)
How did your something similar work?
-
It was a metal copy of the underside of the hoof but continued around the front to attack the rubber to
Not as high as you need but similar
Jason :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:
-
Ok cool - the further you extend that curve the better! Even further than I drew it if that will remain stable. I know it will look ugly... but the moves will look so pretty! ^_^ I hope it works - I already picked out a name for it! lol.
How effective was the old one?
-
Not very it was to hold the rubber over the old style hoof and got superceeded by the MK1 hoofies
What you need is a pair of those Aladin slippers with the turned up toes :Claugh:
Jason :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:
-
Haha - yeah that could work! ^_^
