DK most stages slope towards the audience so that the people in the stalls can see the back of the stage it's hard to see the slope from the auditorium but belive me when you run from back stage to front you notice it (I was messing about on the previous show and nearly ran into the orchestra pit
The raising bits are like the segments of an orange and one round platform in the center all done with hydraulic scissor lifts amazing to see from underneath like a ride at alton towers and when they go round they can travel fairly fast
The stage area is lovely and large I get in early some mornings so I can fly my model helis on the stage (still atmosphere is the best place to fly)
I am lucky because my job alows me to vist and work on 7 top westend theatres on the stages and the main buildings when they are quiet so I get to work with most of the back stage crew and see how all the toys work (The car in Chitty was realy good if a little unreliable at first)
One day I must tie myPJ's to the back of the bike and take them in get some pics of me on the stage that will be cool (worried about the PJ's on the bike I tend to fall off things like motorbikes
)
